Got ETS 16ROW INTERCOOLERS

After much research and talking to Earl about my use for my vehicle, I decided to sell the 997.2 coolers for a set of ETS 16ROW intercoolers from RIX (Dan). On a side note these coolers came as new from him and is a great seller!! All my doubts for these 997.2 coolers for my application (street pulls) really came after reading Earl's post and then holding/inspecting their construction for flow and consistent high boost application. I didn't have much confidence paying someone to put these in my car verses the ETS's.

Earl's test - Intercooler Showdown: ETS 16 Row vs 997.2 / GT2RS:
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...7-2-gt2rs.html

As I am not tracking the car or rarely, but 95% will be 60-130 style driving and street "driving". For that application these should be much better then the 997.2 as it flow and cools better for those shorter periods and Earls test show it to be 0.3 quicker from 60-130 and 60-160 "couple of seconds quicker"!!! From 60-130 the ETS coolers were still 5degrees cooler, much quicker boost recovery between shifts (should help going against all these dual clutch cars) and better build for durability.

After holding the 997.2 and the ETS in my hands, the build quality and strength differences clearly make me ALOT more comfortable and confirm my choice for these ETS coolers!

For street driving/pulls these are hands down a better option then the 997.2 coolers (as per the numbers from Earl's tests). Add to the fact I run E85 for most of the cooling, I am looking at meth injection for my pump gas, the extra flow is miles better then the 997.2's and in the 1 of 40 rear chance I do decide to do a 2-6th gear pull cooling would be held at bay because of the E85/meth on pump. For the street 0.3 difference from 60-130 is 2-3 car lengths and 60-160 a "couple of seconds", is well a spanking of a bus ++ lengths!! That there is a HUGE difference for a street car just for the difference between option between two upgraded coolers over stock 997.1's!! To tell you the truth even if I was not running E85 or plan to run meth, I 100% run these over the 997.2 for 1/4, 60-130, 68-180 and street pulls as you will still pull a comparable car running the 997.2 coolers!

I am trying to get them installed this week at Boost Theory. If we do get them in and weather allows I will measure the delta differences between the 997.1's and the ETS's.

Very excited to see the measured difference from just swapping coolers (no further ECU tunning just yet)! Fingers crossed for 6.6-6.7 pump from 6.9 and 5.8-5.7 on VP C85 from 6.0!!

Congrats Bobby. Excited to see what they do as well. I did end up blowing my turbo budget on another 911, but I think it's worth it. Never, ever been in another 911 that sounds like this one

Hey, I didn't know anyone else was even aware of Dan's intercoolers as he never posted a FS thread, let alone someone trying to pick them up!

You must of seen the same post he did responding to another thread saying that he is going to be selling it. I just shot him a PM ASAP and waited for over a month to complete the transaction as Dan was in and out of the country as we kept in touch via PM.

Leave these little crumbs for us little guys and go pick up a set of AMS intercoolers...LOL

On a side note ETS has a sale on for $15XX for these brand new!!! You can not get better coolers unless your spending 3.5X this amount and only marginally better unless your talking 1000+AWHP!! If this deal some how fell through I was going to pick these up new for that smoking price!

I just read the NEW car in your quote, snap, your right I wouldn't of thought twice about not spending the extra $$ on your 997T if I knew that was coming!

Best of both worlds, killer street car and a precision scalpel track tool with a sound track to get lost in!

A big congrats!

Glad to see they arrived in good health Bobby. I've been meaning to ask you how things looked. You'll be shocked how much better these intercoolers work than stock 997.1. Especially on pump gas.

As for what I'm up to, I'm reluctant to post a long drawn out build thread. Not really my style.

**UPDATE: BROKE into the 5's on E85

**UPDATE: BROKE into the 5's on E85 on ETS intercoolers (May 20/15)
- 60-130: start 225.89m finish 225.12m =0% decline, 1/4 fuel like most my other runs, same road and around 14degrees

4th: 5.99

Not really a big change as with my stock coolers as I did multiple 6.03, but it was nice to see a 5.99 roll up!!

I am now going to email Todd my logs and see if we can now tune for the ETS coolers on both E85 and pump to see if we can squeeze out some more power. My only concern is running out of injectors on E85 with any more power, but I will leave that to Todd.

Really hoping to pick up some power on pump as there was no change with just the swap of intercoolers in my 60-130 other then quicker boost recovering when going through the gears (60-130 only use 4th) and feels like the car pulls harder when I get into 5th from a 3-4-5th pull or even a 4th-5th pull, but I have no previous time comparisons from before past 130 or in 5th.

Hoping for 5.8-5.7 (If there is injector room) on E85 and 6.6-6.7 on pump after Todd tunes for the ETS coolers on my set up!!

We will see!

That's awsome....congrats....it's funny you say you notice extra speed in 5th gear as that's exactly what I remember when installing my ams coolers....I'm guessing at that rate of speed major heat build up is hitting the turbo and our coolers are doing exactly what there suppose too...
Funny story..I knew that my 997.1 coolers were junk from the time the warm weather rolled around...it was just not as fast and I knew it would be one of my first mods.....when garth was tuning my car we wanted to see how much power the car was loosing after ams install....so we hot lapped dynod the car 3 pulls in a row....only lost 15 or so hp which I thought was amazing as I've seen cars loose big power after only 2 pulls....your coolers look nicely done and you should have same great power room if need more later on.....would you know how much power your coolers are rated for..

- With all your hard work on the 997.2 platform and now you entering into the 991, that means a lot coming from you my friend! It seams unless you are doing a major power mod like bigger turbo, you are right it is not easy to keep cutting down time!

With the fuelling seemingly resolved (or on the verge), lightening PDK shifts and your resolve, I have a feeling you will be pretty deep in the 5's!

- Thanks for reminding me of what me goal was on vtg 63.5's & E85, as I don't want to keep chasing more and more power as to compromise the overall balance package I tried so hard to build...... but it seams like the "power" goal post keeps moving!

Between the results of your machine , RobTune machine, & PTF, COBBS AP is looking so good, but I would have to get larger injectors as well! As this was the year to just enjoy my machine (Which I have immensely (put over 2000km already this year!) and not spent any money on power mods, the added cost for larger 1300 or 1700 might make me hold off until next year as the past 2yrs car budget is insane..... but we will see as I have an issue with leaving safe power on the table... just knowing it is there drives me crazy!

Did you get any further time with your new tune?

- I wish I would have done some 3,4,5 gear pulls and VBOXED to see the difference with the before and after, but it is faster up top as there is no doubt via my faithful "butt" dyno!

I am not sure what "HP" they are rated for, but there are 996 guys with over 1100 RWHP with 3.5, but the key is E85. I am sue these intercoolers would be with me a long time and be more then enough to handle 3076's on full kill especially with E85.
