Why buy a 997TT if you aren't looking for one / Build thread

^ Agree, I've done lots on mine with my lift - that certainly makes things easier. I haven't pulled the engine, but have lowered it a few times to help with various tasks. It's relaxing working on my car

If you are used to working on other things, the 997TT is less friendly to work on than just about any car out there (except possibly a gtr depending on the job) there is a few things like the turbos & headers that are easily accessible on the P, But as a point of comparison, and for someone coming for such a friendly car to work on, I would not want him to be under the impression that the 997TT is as easy to handle in the garage as his viper.

Well folks, sorry about lack of updates, this whole having a baby thing its really time consuming LOL!
So Since I bought the car, I installed a set of H&R Springs, and ordered a set of Work S1s, unfortunately that was a monumental waste of time (the wheels) since they do not fit the turbo brakes. ( https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...eels-saga.html )
I'll be updating the wheel situation in another day or so.
The next thing this car was in DESPERATE need of was a full paint restoration and detail including Xpel clear bra and mirror protection. Right now the car is at my friend of many years and expert in the business of reviving Porsche paints Karin from Superior Detailer. Below is some of the progress done so far. Enjoy!
This will include:
-Medium paint correction buff to eliminate all the swirl marks from a decade of bad car washing habits
-Remove of stone guards and replacement with new 3m stone guards
-Gtechniq Crystal Serum Black ceramic and hydrophobic coating in the whole paint
-XPel Clear bra in mirrors and new 3m stone guards in rear quarter panels.
-Full restoration of black trim and all plastics.

There is still a couple of steps left before she is done but I figured I'd share a teaser walk around, the car looks totally different!

I can relate. Had an 04 Viper that was modded for the track some years ago. At the same time I had a modded 996 turbo that I adored. Completely different rides that game me huge fulfilling smiles in their own ways. When the time came to sell one it was easy for me to decide the turbo was the keeper. Maybe one day I'll get back into a snake. Didn't like the stock suspension of that year at all. Had to put moton clubsport coil overs to make it much more effective on the track and street. Nice 997tt!

I am a 2010 997.2 tt cab with PDK owner, 16K miles. I have owned many other brands of sports cars over the years. Also 930T, 993, 996tt etc. I have reached the same conclusion as you regarding the perfect balance between a very reliable, usable, comfortable drive but a real maniac machine when you want it to be. As for resale value my experience says that although it is very good....you really have to get lucky or hold the car a long time to really make any money. Don't get me wrong I am a car guy and the porsches have great resale value and I have sold some for more than I paid for them. I usually buy them around 5-6 years old with around 10k miles on them. I can also say that reasonable investment of your money is a far better alternative than buying and holding these cars for long periods of time. They cost money to own store and maintain. I tell my wife the same stuff you wrote every time I want a different car but know better in my heart.
