Blew a turbo... now what?
Blew a turbo at the track over the weekend... 2007 tip...
Would appreciate some suggestions for a replacement... would like to preserve fast/early spool characteristics for DD/track work rather than lots of high end power... I won't be doing any 0-300kph runs ever...
A quick google reveals refurbished and slightly upsized stock turbos, 9e branded GT2RS turbos...
Whats the advantage of non VTG turbos like many of you are using?

Not sure where they are $5K???
The List price for OEM Turbo is $3007 each side. You can buy new OEM from a discounted dealer for ~ $2300 each plus shipping.
99712301473 - turbocharger
3.6 LITER, new Right
99712301374 - turbocharger
3.6 LITER, new Left
You can also find them used and on eBay for pretty cheap if needed.
Good luck OP.
Have not dealt with Sambo personally, but have seen him on here a lot and lots of good feedback, so would agree he can likely help you out.

This is good to know! I didn't think this was an option any longer. Always thought we had to go through certain dealers to get them done.

This is news to me. A friend sent his K24/18g's just this week to get the seals redone. He was told about a two week turn around. There are also other vendors who do turbo rebuilds not just Blouch.

You might want to consider Koncept Motorwurks in Covina,ca. If you want quality and fair price at the same time give David a call and he's very negotiable. He's building my 997 turbo as we speak. 65mm vtg turbo's with e85 conversion and tune&dyno in house💪🙂.

You have lots of options. You have to think how much you are willing to spend.
If you are on a budget and want a little more power, the 63,5mm VTG is the best option. Anything bigger than that could damage the tiptronic in the long run.
I'm biased, but... I would talk to ESMOTOR if I were you.
