Vivid DRL's cloudy (pic)
I have Vivid DRL's installed on my 997.1 from the previous owner.
They work fine, and look pretty cool.
Problem is they have started to get cloudy. I have a spare set of OEM lights, and the comparison is pretty stark.
Has anyone experienced this with their lights, or have you had any success in cleaning them up with one of those headlight restoration polishes.
From what I've read I will need to pull the front bumper to remove them so prefer to avoid that until I exhaust all options.
I looked on the Vivid site, but they are no longer sold. I do see Speedart lights listed for a whopping $2400! which isnt going to happen.
TIA

any idea if these are the same run/plastic used on the Vivid version I have? If so, I will just go back to stock and maybe convert the fogs to DRL's as the .2 has.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it seems like a simple polish and paint coating should fix her good. It seems like the lenses were cheaply made with no coating on them like your factory headlight and turn signal lenses.
Just pay your detailer. Or do it yourself preferably with a machine polisher along with Meguiars M101, M105, Ultimate Compound or any other compound or polish you may have available. Or i'm sure polishing by hand would work too with a regular cleaner wax. This will remove the oxidation. Then coat with a paint coating such as Opti Coat to make it last.

Our LED's are E-marked for ECE European approval, so they meet the European Standards for lighting.
Not sure if that will assist in your decision but thought I would add that.

FVD also has great customer service.

thank you everyone
this forum is such a powerful resource.
I will try a quick wax and buff
If that fails, I will hit up the vendor.

You really should get a detailer or headlight restoration specialist with the proper machine polisher and polish to give you a crystal clear lens. It doesn't hurt to try by hand first though.

Good idea but failing that FVD and Rhonda rock.

i have the vivid ones & had them tinted before i put them on ,now several years i hated the tinted look & had one of those headlight rest co come to my house & polish my .2 headlights that i put in & he was able to remove the tint from the drl's while there without removing the bumper.

^ Thank you very much.
Car is due to a solid detail. Removing the bumper is the last resort.. not in the mood for the headache of doing that/risk of damage to it either.

I've been on the fence about this mod. I like the way that LED DRLs look. I like the idea of a modified light that replaces the OE turn signal, because it doesn't really change the appearance of the car. I also thought about changing my fog lights for DRLs like the 997.2, but I actually use my fog lights. We get quite a bit of fog up in the mountains. I guess the biggest thing holding me back is that I'm concerned about the reliability and lifespan of the aftermarket LEDs. Any thoughts?
