In this post I wanted to share my journey of building a reliable 600-700hp Porsche that turned into a 1000hp beast. It all started with a typical 997 coolant pipe problem that lead to a complete failure during rolling race event at Pocono raceway.

Let's look at final results, first.
Reaching peak 965whp at 4500 RPM on e85 with a cross-pipe exhaust that is very restrictive. Note, the turbos are able to develop 900whp at 4000 RPM making it a very fun daily vehicle

Shark Werks make a great product to fix the problem for good (click image above), but that requires engine out service. So, that's where I thought, while out , why not make it better Having friends like Mark and Tim quickly turned that idea into squeezing everything out of that little 3.6L with ported heads, Carrillo rods, bigger HTZ3076 turbos, fattest Driveshaft shop axels, ERP triple carbon clutch, Guards LSD (why not), new fuel system, ERP suspension modifications and ProEFI to manage all of the craziness.
Tim did engine work and Turtle did tuning. Joe at AIM Performance buttoned up some loose ends. Thanks to all involved and numerous sleepless nights to get this in time for rally.

Just got back from a 3000 mile rally (Corsa America Rally) without any issues. The car handled like a champ. With 730WHP on pump gas (93 oct) this is a true pump gas king!

That graph on E85 looks solid with power everywhere!

That 730AWHP is a nice number on pump, but what happened to the power under the curve as it looks like a N/A power band?

Unless you did that on pump for road course tractability?


Have you done any 60-130 or 1/4 on your new set up with pump and your E85 tune?

I am standing by for some of those results as they unfold!

was done like that on purpose. he's got E85 that tests 90% ethanol 2 miles away from his house so there is no point to risk going for huge power on 93oct in case of bad gas or something like that. car is flexfuel so when it gets high ethanol content that same boost setting #2 makes 80 more torque and 30 more whp.

Build threads are always where the good stuff is at, specially one where most of us can eventually see ourselves getting to at some point. Tym and Mark are pretty valuable to the Porsche community. Even on pump gas setting (93 oct), this thing must be a riot to drive. Can't wait for you to attend some 1/2 mile events.

Congrats on the build nice job.....amazing turbos giving that power at 3800 on pump fuel.....how does the car drive on the street...and is the power really dead before 3800..
