OK,
At the request of some 6Speeders and others I put together another document / DIY to help those looking to add/replace their Water Pump. This illustrates the process on a 997 TT, but could apply similarly to many other models.
As always, I hope you find it helpful. If you have a better way to do it...Knock yourself out. I created this DIY and put in the time in the spirit of helping my fellow enthusiasts.
Good luck to you all. It is a pretty straightforward process, and I hope I documented, illustrated, and outlined it in a way that is easy to follow and logical!

I host these on my personal Google Drive so if it gets a lot of traffic, it may flake out....so just try again until it works.

Thank you for posting this I find it very interesting. I do not have a lift , all the tools mentioned nor your mechanical skill but I very much enjoyed learning how this come apart and goes back together.
I hope to be able to do more on this car some day.

Awesome diy guide as always Rock! As soon as I read "wobble extensions" I knew this wasn't a job for me, lol. Just kidding about that part but I still don't think I'd do this myself. I didn't realize the engine needed to be dropped for this otherwise I would have had it changed when I recently had my plugs done. Oh well, live and learn with this car. I think I will change out the idler pulleys and belt at the same time when I get this done in a year or 2. Are there any other pulleys to be changed at the same time? Thanks again for posting this guide to make us less technical guys feel good about our decision to pay somebody else to do it hee hee.

Haha...You are welcome, and no problem. It is really not as hard as it may look. Like everything...just follow the steps carefully, and TAKE YOUR TIME. But if you are not comfortable, then absolutely leave it to the pros (of which I am NOT). I am not certain you NEED to lower the motor to be honest...but for the extra 5 minutes it takes, I prefer it over inventing new curse words and busting up my knuckles more...
On the pulleys, the only other one you could swap is the tensioner/idler...The rest are all on something (like alternator, Power steering pump, etc..).
Interestingly on mine also, I read a bit online and heard many suggest that the Porsche pump was no bueno, and Gates made a better product (don't know the answer and not looking to start a debate here) but I decided to go with that one. When I went to install the belt, I realized the pulley was a little larger....I did a little math and used the circumference of the old and new etc...and went to Advance and got the right length and fit perfect....Just an FYI if you get a different brand...I was perplexed for a bit, as to why the belt I removed would not go back on
