his kit was from Wrightwood. that is the heavier piston with lower compression of 8.8 .... not the same as the FVD kit.

I think FVD and Mahle MS are the same things - all done by Wrightwood. TRE and FVD are just resellers. Charlie (wrightwood) does not like talking to end users ..

I was on Pauter Rods .. and I switched over to Carillo's as well . As owner of pauter even said 1000-1100 awhp is pushing it for the off the shelf stuff

Also the wrist pins with the Mahle MS are good for about 1000 awhp as well then they start flexing. I am running some wrist pins almost solid ish ...

I thought this too at first but the FVD kit is actually in fact different. The FVD pistons are lighter and higher compression and they have different webbing design in the back of the piston. They are made by Mahle for FVD Germany exclusively not thru Wrightwood. Tim had a set of the Wrightwood MS ones and I will try and snap a picture of them if he hasn't put them into an engine yet. With all of that said I am not sure if they are any stronger or not, I just know they are not the same.

I appreciate the insight ! Did you go with CP HD? Still using old liners or going Darton or LA?

I used same liners - Mahle MS - but new set - Betim had access to a new set .

OFF TOPIC !! - I still don't know if I am OK with my clutch ( same one you have ); under full load that thing is not gonna want to shift - unless grannied just my feeling....

Also - tranny... do you know what you are going to do ? 3rd gear does not like 1000 ft. tq ..

Ask rob if your clutch has the springs in the pressure plate. That's what ended up fixing the hang up at high RPM finally.

This is my friends 997 that got the first one with those springs. So far we raked up 2-3k miles and 2 track days and no issues. I have the same thing in my car but it has only seen the dyno so far.

shift speed is nice :

That looks like it is certainly moving does he have the the cables and shifter etc ? I got the new smaller diameter clutch from Rob - I think that is the latest. And like you - I only have dyno time and 1 shift sector event. Then 1 weekend playing; where it just sheered off 3rd gear ... now "contemplating" what to do next.

I did not do the DSS axles - only hoping to leave as the weakest point as an insurance vs the tranny etc. but to have a solid launch perhaps it needs to be on the list.

Back to your car... That thing is gonna be INSANE !!! Be safe and enjoy in good health as mine was beginning to scare the crap out of me -which I LOVE

Are you building for 1/2 mile or mile ? I think you will need a 7th gear and an extra set of ***** for a mile - these cars are getting too fast too quickly.
