full 3,8l build - which turbo?
hi guys,
at the moment i am building my engine and wanted to hear some opinions on which turbo to choose.
car is 997.1tt tiptronic - 22.5k miles
some engine specs:
3,8l conversion with GT3 sleeves, Mahle Pistons 102,7mm / 8,2:1 CR, Carillo Rods, AVL Schrick cams, CNC'd turbo heads, modified intake manifold, y-pipe, GT3 TB with bigger plenum, wagner evo2 5.5" intercoolers
ECU will be oem, no standalone.
still dont know if i want to go MAFless or not.
No E85. doesnt get supported anymore. but we do have 102octane pump gas available all around.
car should make 1000-1100HP max.
i know i can throw in some gtx35s but maybe those are a bit laggy?
no drag races with standing launches. probably some roll racing.
but car should be still usable in daily traffic or as daily driver.
what turbos would you guys in the know recommend for that stage? i would rather loose some HP for better response/spool
cheers

dhalen on here has some borg /warner 7163 turbos that are barely used for sale. direct bolt on hot side housing, great price. he made almost 1100 awhp on his build. it is in the for sale section.
his dyno showed 1 bar boost at 3300 rpm and almost 30 psi at 5500 rpm. fast spooling turbos with built in 35 psi wastegates and bov. no need to run anything external
heres darrens link on his turbos. trusted well respected member on here.

There are some new Xona turbochargers on the market that would serve you well! You could run internal or external wastegates depending on your total goal and exhaust. I like the 1000-1100 crank area. After that it's a whole new ball game.
Feel free to reach out.

For the power level you're looking for I'd recommend a Xona 6564 with the Internal wastegate housing (IWG). It will support 1200+ to the wheels, and get you over the century mark vs. the usual 3076. Unobtainium Welding makes some beautiful headers for these as well.
I will have dyno numbers in a month or two of this setup

Good luck .. I was running ES1200 tiptronic
my advise is based on exp !!!
go higher in engine C/R so you do not face too much lag !!! 3586 with good flowing heads will get you to 1100hp !!!
Good luck
