The smooth hose make a dramatic difference over stock on a 996 and 997 car as we mentioned above. Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, GM and others use the cheapest corrogated rubber hoses as possible to save manufacturing costs. Ferraris and other cars pick up power when we streamlined factory OEM air-intake systems and making small improvements elsewhere.

BgB Motorsports and others tested alot of intake systems professionally as that is where they make their livelihood and obtain and secure sponsorship to go racing. Our systems that may look simple upgrades the factory 996 and 997 air-intake systems and while it may not look sexy and completely changed versus other systems Fabspeed 996/997 Cold Air kits work great. Results dont lie from Club Racing and professional road racing to automated dyno testing over +10HP on a 997S car in under 20 minutes with no CEL issues is significant.

I personally invite anyone to come by our shop and see why the system works and also watch our Video explanations. Our systems compliment any brand of aftermarket exhaust system.

I don't get it, IPD changed their plenum from smooth interior surface to a rough one, apparently for better air movement, and here the smooth hose is supposed to be better than the corrugated one. There seems to be competing theories on the use of smooth vs "unsmooth" surfaces for air intake.

I dunno . . . Maybe I'm way off base but don't you think Porsche, BMW, etc. w/ their huge engineering staffs would have incorporated a smooth walled intake hose if the hp gains are that significant. If you build hundreds or thousands of these hoses at the factory the cost would be ammortized over the entire build quantity so the manufacturing up cost would be minimal on per unit basis.

How about adding 'snake oil' to the fuel? That might increase hp even more.

Just installed the Fabspeed Cold Air Kit WITH the BMC Filter and WOW! I cannot understand why members are not feeling ANY difference before install. Maybe you haven't driven the car long enough for the ECU to adapt to the new air flow and filter??? I am not feeling a placebo effect. My 997S sounds better, feels smoother, and drives more responsive. Yes there is a substantial howl over 5,000RPM but I am talking performance. The car feels that it can BREATHE better than stock with less restriction. The kits a keeper. The BMC filter is a MUST in this relationship.

Oh babymd it seems your are mis-interpreating my comments. I didn't mention to the effect of HP gains. The S is fast enough if you know how to drive it. I simply commented that the engine seems to perform better by way of less restriction in air flow. In my opinion, the smoothness I feel with this kit along with the BMC filter lets the engine breath better than OEM and thats the description originally stated. Even after your halarious remarks, the kits a keeper.

I had a BMC filter too from Fabspeed and thought it was great. Easy to keep clean too.
