To give you an idea of how it changes the car, we made a short video showing it in action before and after the installation. You can watch the video here:

Excuse my ignorance, but how much work is it to install this fly wheel? Also, I read that the drawbacks are increased vibration, how much vibration? Any other drawbacks?

Great video. Very good comparison. This is the kind of stuff we need on mods.
I have this mod as well, and it does make a good difference. Car feels hyper.
Thanks! I wish I had more time to shoot a better video, but we did the best we could.
And I agree, it's a good mod that really changes the car's personality.

Hi Ed,
Installing the flywheel takes several hours, as you must remove the transmission and clutch to gain access to it. 2WD cars are faster to install than AWD cars.
Once warmed up and at idle, there is definitely some added transmission noise with the clutch pedal released. Some cars make more noise than others. 996s tend to make more noise than 997s, and the Caymans make less noise than 997s.
If you're lugging the car at low RPMs, you'll have some added vibration.

Is it wise to replace the clutch when this is being changed out?
How much noise and vibration?

Yes, especially if it's nearly time to do it since you will have to take it apart.

It varies from car-to-car and depending on the set up. It can be as loud as the GT3 RS (with its stock LWF). We typically let a customer hear it in our Cayman or GT3 RS before we install it as some people are more sensitive to the noise than others.
I will shoot some video of the noises in the GT3 RS or Cayman before the weekend if time permits.

Thanks to Sharkwerks for making and posting this video. I've been struggling to get an appreciation of the added "chatter" a LFW is supposed to add. Some say it's significant and aggravating, others don't mind.
I didn't hear anything obvious in this video. Should I be listening for anything in particular at any particular times (revs, shifts, etc.)?
This is a mod I really want on my car but have been warned against it with my supercharger kit.

I replaced mine at the same time as a race clutch. I don't know which is making the chatter in mine, but there's definitely some noise. It's not as loud as a Ducati though, that's for sure.

ROFL! Yours was different since it was still being broken in George the owner actually twisted our arm into doing this since he said it was way more useful than the other video
But I'd absolutely do one on yours anytime! Wouldn't be a bad idea since you hav e a full exhaust etc.... so people can really hear the sound difference too. Plus I guess we could show the idle transmission noise
