Kind of a late reply, but I did my own install on these. at first the tips were out too far. However, as mentioned above, there are a lot of possible adjustments if you are willing to get out a few tools. Even the brackets on the mufflers had about 1/2 inch of adjustment as the mounting holes are more like slots. Loosen everything including the clamp for the tip and you might be surprised how much play you find.

Adjustment is typically doable. But it'll take some work, as Leneuromancer said. Patience! Maybe a big mallet and a 2x4
