I'm going to drive my car up from Las Vegas to San Francisco and will be up there for a week for work. I'm going to do a drive with some friends on Sunday, but not sure how long or where we're going since my friend is setting up the drive. But I'd like to do 1 or 2 drives after work on a Thursday and/or Friday after work and would like some suggestions. I'd like to make the drive last for about an hour or two round trip. I'm thinking about going up Hwy 1 past Golden Gate Bridge toward Mendacino (sp?). If I recall, that was a nice drive and not many cops. Any other suggestions?
Also, any suggestiosn for the drive to and from SF to LV would be great. I'm thinking about doing part of the Hwy 1 drive from San Jose and maybe some mtn driving on my way up there. Fastest route would take me about 7.5 hrs, but that would be all freeway driving. I'm thinking I'd be willing to drive 10 hrs to make some side trips.
Thanks

plan for more time if u do scenic route. do hwy 1 starting at south of big sur and drive ur way up to santa cruz or half moon bay. do this drive before sunset though.
for sunday, do a drive on 9, 35 (aka skyline) from saratoga to san mateo. then to Half moon bay and down hwy 1 back to saratoga. nice loop
mendocino is good. once you pass GG bridge, take route to hwy 1. lots of hard corners on the way to the coast. once at the coast, it's a more relaxing pace that's scenic.
