crap weather

question....I am getting ready to put the car to sleep 4 a while(snow) On my 993 I put the cord(for the tender) through a small hole in the front pan and closed the hood. Does the light stay on(997) in the battery compartment when the latch is not closed. If so how do I tender the battery while installed in the car

Only the luggage portion of the front compartment is weather-sealed. Assuming you have the battery minder outside the car (maybe a wrong assumption) and only run the small/thin 12v wire into the car, you can run it through by the hood hinge and close the hood with no binding. The cable will still be loose with the hood fully closed - you can even lock/set the alarm. There is more of a gap there than you might guess. The 120v plug cord is probably too thick to run this way though.

Yes only the thin wire. So at the hinge by the front window...correct?

Yah, just leave off the battery cover and run the wire back towards the windshield - so it comes out by the window wiper arm. Thats where I have mine and even with the hood closed it moves around freely: not pinched and not binding.
Close the hood slowly and make sure the wire is not catching on anything.

That is like asking if the fridge light stays on when the door is closed

You could just pull the bulb out of it's holder, I have mine out as the light gets really hot when I flush the brake fluid.

Actually, the trunk light times out after 15 or 20 minutes I believe, so you could leave the lid open or ajar. Try it sometime just to check.

BTW, Ed likes breaking balls, especially when it comes to chrome!

Thanks to ed and you, I was up all night running to the garage to see if the light came back on with the lid open......My wife thinks, and knows, I am totally screwed up in the head. I told her I agree
