PCM 2.x firmware / software versions?

Hello,

In my 2006, my PCM is equipped with Navi and my software version screen (hold down MAIN and TRIP buttons simultaneously) shows the following:

Software versions: v3.2

Unit: System Software
Actual: 04514BD1 / 5104

Unit: PCM
Actual: 05024CD1 / 3905

Unit: Navigation System
Actual: 00179412 / 5004

I got the car recently and it was definitely serviced at an authorized dealer recently, just not sure if they updated the navi software / PCM firmware. Thing is, the disc that came with my car says 08-2005, which I am pretty sure contains older versions from what I posted above.

So am I up to date, or should I seek a further update?

Thanks.

I installed the 'latest' PCM and NAV software in January in my MY2005 997S. I believe it's the most up to date for my level of PCM 3.0 (no phone interface).

System S/W - 04514BD1/5104

PCM - 05024AD1/0205

NAV - 00179436/3306

It appears that your System and PCM levels are current for your PCM hardware level but your NAV disc is from 2004 (date code is 5004 . . . week 50 of 2004). I think the latest NAV is week 33 of 2006.

The software version of the PCM2.1:
Standard version: 04035xxx
Model Level A: 04202xxx
Model Level B: 05024xxx
Model Level C: 05395xxx

So OC Pcar has latest software (level C).
AP 997S and nizzoc4s has level B. It can be upgraded to level C with Multimedia Update CD (Part number 997.642.141.1x)

My PCM hardware level does not support MP3 files or phone SIM card. I did the complete upgrade (Standard version to Level B), including the Multimedia disc, but because of the older PCM hardware it would only go as high Level B: 05024xxx. The latest PCM 2.1 NAV DVD runs just fine at my current level.

Thank you Filin. So what's the best place to order this from? Navteq directly?

Porsche NAV DVD Mapping updates can only be acquired directly from Porsche; Navteq is not allowed to deal directly w/ the consumer w/ respect to Porsche. It's in their agreement plus Porsche claims they add value to the NAV DVD that Navteq cannot accommodate. Yes . . . It's B.S. but that how it works.

Now if you don't have to update your PCM software you can try buying a later NAV DVD from various sources; eBay is typically the most common but occasionally a member might have one to sell. The latest NAV DVD, as far as I can tell, was written on week 33 of 2006 (00179436/3306)

Based on your Level B PCM I believe you can use the latest PCM2.1 NAV DVD w/o having to go Level C. There are some good informational threads on RennTech.com if you do a search on NAV DVD, NAV Updates, PCM Updates, etc. You can also try talking to your Porsche service manager but most of them are clueless when it comes to this subject.
