That really sucks. Words can't describe how pissed off I would be. What in the world was the driver doing backing up at a stoplight?

Kent,
I'm surprised how calm I was when this happened. I think I was in shock. The female driver (not being a male chauvinist here) decided to turn into Kinko, but she was beyond the entrance point. So, she did the next "obvious" thing...back up to gain entry into the Kinko's parking lot while at a stoplight .

Oh that sux...I feel for ya! On the bright side at least it was not a hard jolting hit and you are ok and the frame of the car should be fine. Make sure they check the coliovers and all front suspension parts for stress cracks...you do not want something like that to break when going hard into a corner.

Best of luck...I say $10-12k worth of damage???

Mike,

Thanks. Yeah, on the bright side, neither party was physically hurt. Will make sure the coilovers are ok. Unfortunately, if it cracks, then I'll be very upset. This is aftermarket coilovers. Insurance policy does not reflect this.

Ridiculous!!!!! I hope the driver had insurance! Yes, luckily it wasn't a hide speed collision and everyone is alright, and the car isn't totalled.

Unfortunately, simple accidents like that can turn up to have a lot of crappy fractures that aren't noticeable to the eye, which could add up in more $$$$$ than reasonably expected.

I just got into an accident last month, some old woman turned in the middle of an intersection, right in front of me, and didn't manage to hit her brakes. Luckily we were only traveling like 20-30mph during collision the collision. But still, what I thought would be simple damage, costs thousands more than I expected. GRRRR

I don't think that it is that high. I was rear ended in my first 997, had similar damage in the front when I was push (thrown) into a Honda Civic in front of me. The rear was much worse, including the main frame rail on the right side being shortened 1/2". Total damage was about $30,000 (cdn). It is amazing that a 25,000 lb garbage truck didn't do more damage. I think it is about $6000 (us) to repair the car.

Sorry to start estimating your loss 808.

Thats a rough accident. Just ensure you got an accurate police report with her taking full blame of the accident. I can see how someone can go home and decide that SHE was the one that got rear ended.
Good luck.

JayWild,

Luckily, driver did have insurance. Funny thing was what she said right after the collision, "Don't worry, I have insurance". I'm glad she has insurance, but I don't think she realizes how expensive fixing a Porsche can be. Her premium will hit the roof! Her passenger however, knew. She told her, "Girl, you hit a very expensive car!"
