Do you remember when used car shopping was like a buffet ? Back when gas was $4+ and the stock market was on its downward spiral just about every high end car seemed to be parked on auto trader .
I remember when there were more used M3's for sale or sitting on lots than on the road it seems . Turbo's , 997S cars , all low mile , poised and ready .
Some of you guys bought them .
Times have changed . It's still easy to pull up 70 cars in a nice radius search but everything from the colors , options, miles , price just renders a lot of junk. It's as if one has to really search for the right car and have all the criteria met --it's getting tougher .
BTW -- I notice that used M3's are very scarce in South Florida . That was not the case 8 months ago.
997S cars -I see I see two cabs and one coupe that got a second look . Turbo's are still everywhere .
With the CPO sales on the rise it may have dimished some quality supply . New cars are still plentiful . Expensive though.

I noticed this a bit as well. On my AutoTrader "My Saved Car" list, I had 24 cars saved that I was looking at when I bought my car a few months back. Just looking at the list recently, half the cars are now no longer listed (I assume sold).
Glad I got when I got. Thanks for your help Larry.
Joe - I have have always enjoyed following the market on thse cars and enjoyed watching you go through the process of getting yoir first Porsche .
I feel the hobby of looking the used Porsche values began when I owned my first Porsche . I liked to see how it was holding in terms of value but I also liked to figure out what it would cost to get my next Porsche too .
Unfortunately --the Turbo market has gone Timberrrrrr .... When I see 140K cars selling in the 90's and 80's it just stuns me . I've given up looking because I figure how much lower can it go ? I even think it could go up if the integrated dry/wet sump engine disappoints in any way . I planned on keeping my car for many years anyway and customized the way it is , being reliable as it has been , it really amazes me . I have said for months that Turbo is the modern day bargain .
Out of the new cars --two have got my attention .. the new Cayman s and 2010 Gt3 . Both are very different . I like that the Gt3 retained traditional Gt1 and manual combination and I feel that DFi and PDK turn the caymanS into a moving video game.
The used 997S is becoming harder to find but one new listing popped up in my area today . It does not even have pictures yet . Low miles , nicely priced .. got me to notice http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
When the economy eventually "recovers", gas will eventually pop back up to $4.00 along with the devaluing of the dollar with the US debt at astronomical levels. At that time once again, you'll see plenty of M3, M5 997S, ect as alot of people that buy these cars are not always enthusiasts and will freak at 10-12mpg and will vector right out of them..especially here in poseur South Florida.
Larry is right, all the well optioned, low mile cars are being bought up. I posted 2 weeks ago that I sold my 06 C4s, under 10k miles in 1 week. I am STILL getting offers above what I sold it for from people who were on the fence and now realize the good cars are GONE.
Turbos are everywhere...except I am looking for a cab. I think after summer starts to fade..even more of a deal might be had. It's going to be a long hard winter for Pcar dealers.
I have seen the same thing. There is still inventory but there isn't as much selection as just a few months back. It seems like the closer you get to $100K the more inventory there is. Along with Turbos the G is taking and even worse hit.
I may have jumped too soon based on the market and could see it still lose value, but I bought it to not care about resale price and to just drive it daily for as long as it will run. It was what I wanted and was a good price at this point in time. I love this car.
**Steph280, Walters dropped the Gray/Terracotta only another $1k. I bet it ends up going to auction.
only $1K? What are they smoking? While I still love the color and options in that car, there is no way I would pay that much for an 07. Their price make my 08 sound like a steal.

That's when I'll time my next purchase (upgrade)
Economic optimism is nice to hear but most of my car searches are simply snap shots of the moment . Right now .. low mi , nice optioned cars are hard to find . The real deal is shifting towards new cars . I do not believe that Porsche dealerships will have this same type of inventory flood of cars in the future . I saw this first hand with BMW . Last year dealerships had as many as 15 leftover M3's . Now they have 1 to 7 cars at best , Used M3's are nowhere to be foud.
This type of bargain buying frenzy is a one time deal . Everyone (especially shoppers) are getting wiser.
The biggest sell panic was with the Turbo . Perhaps the psychology of buying a 150K car to begin with ruffles most but when investments plunge the first things to go are autos. They are still plentiful . The ones which are hard to find are Tiptronic Cabs , That's partially because they were discounted awhile back so heaviliy that their owners still have them.
The used Porsche bargain is the 07 997tt manual coupe . Depending on miles/options it ranges from low 80's to 105k (asking prices) .

You have a car that has more options than almost any 997S I have ever seen . Even the 08 C4S with X50 leftover that I saw two weeks ago at my area dealership has a lower MSRP than your car was new.
I saw yoir post about the PCM and I hope you get it resolved . I wish I knew how to fix it but I have to admit that in three 997 cars I have NEVER used my Nav and had the saleman program everything from day 1 .
With my BMW which has all the techno gadgets I nearly crashed it driving home on my first day trying to figure it out . I lack the patience to fiddle with the technology too much . I buy these cars to drive them and pretty much only use the stereo.
