PDK is very impressive, just don't get why Porsche didn't put regular paddle shifters???

The 997.2S OWNED that Audi R8...WOW!

The new Carrera S with PDK (gotta get Sport Chrono w/ PDK!) and Sports PASM is an amazing performer.

I drove a PDK for the 1st time yesterday. I'm I the only person here that wasn't impressed?
I liked the speed shift at WOT, that is truely a cool feature. But driving around slowly, at the dealership, the car was in 4th gear before I knew it and was just bogging. Same thing happened again in traffic, which forced me to manually downshift. Another thing, driving on the highway at 70mph I noticed the trans. was in 6th gear and reving 3200rpm, this is lot higher than the 6-speed, then at 75-80 it shifted to 7th. It then reved 2300rpms and it was out of the power band. whats to love??? I know it doesn't carry any weight, but it's an automatic not a race trans.
Now I'm glad they don't put them in the GT3.
On the other parts of the car, I also don't like the sound of the DFI engine, sounds a little too quiet for me and not enough intake noise. I do like the handeling difference. It was definatly more planted than my car. ( nose bobbing gone as stated above) is gone and the PCM is better. Best Part of car IMO is the sport chrono settings.

I'm not buying one of these, even at the great deals that can be had on the 09's.
I'm going for the new gt3 :-) They were getting ready for delivery to a customer on a 2010 gt3 white and black. It sits side by each with his traded 07 gt3, amazing machines.

GTSilver997 will become famous soon enough
Let's not turn this into another PDK vs Manual debate. Ultimately, it's a very personal choice. There will always be a manual in my garage, but the technical excellence of PDK is also undeniable. I'm still blown away by those videos.

Are there similar type videos between 997.2S PDK and a 6sp?

I still love my '08 C2S 6-speed. There is nothing in the 997.2 that I want bad enough to lose my baby; I intend to keep it forever...and thank goodness for that, as I would go broke trading Porsches every few years.

As an aside, I'll keep the same cell phone, computer, tv, shoes, and everything else until it doesn't work anymore and/or costs more to fix than buy a new one...not you're typical American consumer .

No flame, but that just doesn't sound like how my PDK operates - and with SC, there's a good bit of flexibility above and beyond what you mention.

That said, I drive around sometimes in Auto/Normal and it is fine - it may look like it is bogging on the tach, but in fact my car is plenty ready to go at moments notice. And at highway speeds, certainly at 70mph - maybe lower, it drops into 7th and can really make the most of a tank of gas. For a sports car, it really delivers well on many driving styles from "loafing along gas miser" to "aggressive track car".

PDK Auto also reacts and adapts to your driving style in normal and sport mode - you can't be shy about letting it know your intentions.

And that's just using it in Auto...and I think judging it solely on using Auto is completely missing the boat.

Kudos to those that can trade up and enjoy the latest improvements. Amazing how fast the pdk was compared to the R8 and M3

First --I am with you 100 percent on the Gt3 except match up the current discounts aganist the Gt3 MSRP and the decision dynamics might sway . If you still end up with a Gt3 I won't argue the choice at all . I think it will be amazing.

BUT --I do want to address this point above . Like youself I faced the same 40 mph in 6th (or 7th) gear too. But I adapt. I can drive it manually and bypass the entire thing and shift more rapidly than a manual . I can also make way to 7th gear in brong traffic too driving miss daisy style and saving gas .

PDK offers choices .. no need to fear it .. no need to hate it.. take more tha a test drive to learn it and if you may just learn that how you interract with it has increased your driving potential into a different dimension . It's new . It takes time amd old comforts may need that time .

I still say the ideal setup is to own more than one Porsche because that variety opens the door to different driving experiences with a 997 line up that exceeeds my expectations in so many areas.

These are truly great cars --- all of them.
