Help needed - center console sway

I'm working on swapping my stock center console with an alcantara-covered one. All is going smoothly, but I'm now at the stage (having removed the stock one from the car) of swapping the 'internals' from the old to the new.
Everything has come out smoothly except for the rear/storage compartment 12 power plug. I cannot fathom how to remove it. The old one has the assembly and spring-loaded door. The new one just has a hole, so it all must be moved. The MacCarbon site doesn't mention this aspect and I'm really afraid of breaking something.
Any advice out there?
Thanks,
Verde

Any pictures?

Both consoles if you can, it will make it easier to help figure it out.

if you PM me your email I can send you workshop manual for 997 - it may have it there but I did not find it at first glance.

Gladly. The unit on the left is the donor, the right is the recipient. It's the power plug assembly that is in the covered console that has to be removed and moved. I can (painfully) twist it, but seems like there are two tabs and only one slot in the surround. Also, it may be that part of it (the white) pulls toward the front of the car, the shroud and cover to the rear. But I'm stumped.

Success. Found this:
http://www.renntech.org/forums/lofiv...hp/t27729.html
Truth is, it does not very simply line up and slide out. It took some considerable brute force and repeated wedging with some small screw drivers to get it out. Because it's not visible, hidden by the console, I decided to just go for it.
Thanks.

I relied on the axiom, 'It's better to be lucky than smart!'. I'll try to get it put together later and take some pix for the 6speed herd.

I couldn't figure it out so I just ordered a new plug/door from Sunset in PDX. Pretty cheap and I didn't want to break anything...
