I bought a 2009 C2S listed for $110265 very nicely optioned for $85475 last Friday. I thought I would be going out of state to get a good deal but they told me that they needed to close a deal to make the numbers for the end of the month.
It worked for both of us.
can you point me to taht dealer in NY that has a dozen 09's on the lot. Most of the dealers in NJ and Pa where I have been looking have little stock.

New Country in Greenwich CT has 15 '09's in stock. Mostly S coupes. Couple of those Aqua cars people were talking about. And even a 2010 GT3 for Larry

are these low sale price numbers/discounts effecting 08 numbers? Considering 09 is new model 997.2, newer etc... would think so but when looking not as much as I had thought.
But if fleaby/ebay is any indication the reverse is true... Always use to use ebay as a decent gauge but not these days at least with P cars.... see the same car listed again and again and insane Buy it now prices... and when you go in and do a "completed listing" search very very few of these cars are moving at least on ebay.
If I could pick up an 08 used light miles -5K miles range- for 53-55K would buy one today, then sell my 05.... after I made the mod swap

It is true that Ebay has vast amounts of no sale P=cars but at least with the buy it now listings (particularly on dealer new cars) you can see what discounts are available. Similarly, you can search Autrader new cars 2009 and find this out however the process is much more cumbersom due to the format of their listings in that all cars for a dealer are combined. (Albeit asking prices don't equal sales but you do see the extent some specific dealers will cut MSRP - and can perhaps gague their willingness to deal on their other inventory)

A lot of people do lie about what they pay for cars. What is strange to me is why do people lie and say they pais less for a car and lie to say they paid more for a house? Does it not make sense to say you paid cheap for house?
This is because many people want you to think they are super financially savvy. The brag they paid less on a car because it is always depreciating, and they brag they paid more for a house because traditionally a house stayed or increased in value making them appear intelligent in their dealings.
So, I have been trying to ink a deal with my local dealership on bringing a 2009 car in from another dealership. They are still only going to 15% off MSRP. So today I talked to the salesman, and bring up that I have contacted another dealership that is offering a very similarly spec'd car for 23% off MSRP. He basically told me to go buy that car, which I am close to doing. But I would really like to keep the business local, and have a good working relationship with the dealer. What are your thoughts?

I think the choice is clear. Forget local. An additional 8% is really hard to pass up.

The car that I was getting a quote of 23% off on apparently is a demo car with 4,000 miles on it. This wasn't listed on their website, but 4,000 miles seems like a lot for a demo car. It went into the demo pool on 6/1. Still a smoking deal on a new car, but the 4,000 miles scares me a little.
You can get a similar deal on a non demo 09. My MSRP was 99K and I paid 78K, new 09 C4. I did trade in a bmw for which I owed 40 and they gave me 39. We didn't really haggle over the numbers, the dealer was pretty straightforward about how the money worked from their end.

I agree with you re the veracity of many of the pricing claims we see on these boards
