Gee, what a great problem to have.
I was at a C&C event today in SJC and discussed such a problem with a buddy. The issue to me would pivot on the planned usage. The 911/997 (including tt) is really the supercar you can drive every day. Weekend drives, daily to work, shopping at Safeway, at the track. The Gallardo is a supercar, but not one you can drive everyday. More demanding, draws a big crowd, bad vis, not something that I would leave parked in town or the supermarket parking lot.
The new version of the Gallardo is supposed to be a fantastic car. I've driven the previous version and was very impressed. Not a fan of AWD, but both cars in question have it. But it would be a real garage queen for me. Only driven on special occasions.
The tt would need some suspension work to make me happy (I'd actually go with a GT3) but is easily a DD.
Net net is that (for me), if I only had one, it would be the P-car. If I was adding a car, the Gallardo is pretty special.

Reach out to Cho (ATL Porsche), he just got a Superleggera. He loves/ hates it. Loves everything about it, but hates that he can't drive it all the time, due to people harassing him, taking cell pics of it while driving, etc.

Bingo. I have the same issue with the Ford GT. Yea, a real heartbreaker I know! But there's no place that I feel comfortable parking it and I have to play dodge 'em with minivans full of photo takers. It's something I've wanted since I was 9 years old, and I'm in awe every time I peak into the garage. But it's a museum piece, not a car. A really really fast museum piece.

Yep. Cho (ATL-Porsche) is a driver, a good one at that, and a low key guy. When he sold his 997S to get the Superleggera, he didn't know what he'd be losing, or gaining- he'll weigh in here, so don't want to speak for him. The Lambo is awesome, period, but he's low key, and he gets kids videotaping him at 90 mph on the highway, which is kinda scary. People gun for you.
Park in a lot to get a Starbucks and there's a crowd around your car when you come out, trying to see who you are. Sounds fun right, papparazzi and all? Think again. Fun for a minute, but on a daily basis? You can sorta understand how it would suck to be Michael Jordan.

I would pick the turbo above all the cars on this thread . But i already have one. It's fast, can be driven daily, reliable, and comfortable. It handles well in all climate and conditions and feels like low level flying. It will eat a Gallardo . Modded (dollar for dollar at 200K+ cost.) it will eat a stock Gt2 and the new LP560 (which BTW blows away the older model). Next in line .. Gt3. The Gallardo wold not even be on my list.
I am shopping for a 06 G right now. A test drive of a LP560 made it very clear.
Coming from a 996, I just don't feel a 997TT is that great. Sure it's more powerful, faster and better planted. However, I want something more sexy and with more passion.
Obviously these cars are at different levels. Besides the driving experience, public attention, you would budget a lot more for G's maint and repairs compared to a 997TT.
However, I pretty much concluded that a G is the most practical exotic. I don't consider 997TT exotic BTW. There are so many of them.

"Practical exotic" is an oxymoron ,
I have spent under 900 bucks in two years of routine service on an EVT700 . Show me even one lambo that can cost close in 9K miles of driving .
Just the depreciation alone with miles on a Lambo puts it in a league of its own (next to Ferrari which is equally tempermental). The ride , the service, the drama of a lambo has many Porsche owners not just walking but running back to porsche .
Yes there is public attention in a Lambo but that's not always good . When its parked theres fingerprints and semi circles on the window . It can also attract the negative attention too .
If you want "look at me , look at me" attention that's the Lambo .
Two different cars, one is an exoctic which lines and glamour will last for years, tipical third car to stay in the garage most of the time due to reasons already posted, while the other is just another pratical sports car that you can use during all year around, but lacks the passion and drama Lambo and Ferrari provides.
thanks all for the feedback, you all been a great help, even to yrralis1, who put the video of the Lambo begging for mercy as the turbo blew past, lol. Thanks to all, i think the clear choice is the 2010 turbo 20 more horses, plus i have the 4 year 50,000 mile warranty in which PePe Porsche in White Plains, N.Y takes very very good care of me, as far as service goes.
