Both the Snell and the Fabspeed are simple red or orange silicone/ rubber hoses and a cap to close off the helmholz resonator. You can make it yourself at Lowe's for about $12.
I do not personally believe that they do a thing, and feel that they're a waste of time and money. This is just my personal opinion. I should note that I do think Fabspeed makes solid exhaust products, so it baffles me that they'd water down their credibility with this product.
I am using the EVOMS cold air intake, and have been thrilled with it, particularly when paired with exhaust mods such as mufflers and cats.

Thought I'd add a couple of questions to this thread.
In the K&N instructions, it says the intake should be removed and the stock airbox replaced if there is "incliment" weather. I don't remember the exact word, but it seems that if it rains heavily you shouldn't use the airbox and it would invalidate the warranty. Sounds ridiculous. Have you had any issues?
I've been wondering about the "sport" button. In addition to the throttle remapping, does the sport button also close the helmholz resonator in the airbox? The engine sounds a little throatier with the sport button on and I know the Fabspeed pipe and cap effectively close off the "muffler". I much prefer the sound. Never heard anybody mention this change with the "sport" button, but I suspect that is another feature incorporated in the button. Can anyone confirm?

I would stay away from the open element K&N set up. It is NOT a cold air intake and does not have protection from water.
Wouldn't the Fabspeed CAI have this same issue......lack of engine protection from water?

So if I get it right - real 'upgrade' over stock CAI would be something like X51 box - with 2 intakes instead of stock 1 intake and dual filters, right? But then you`ll need to cut second intake hole in the engine lid.
I was also quite skeptical about any CAI upgrade that uses same stock air intake pipe minus air box as it just seems it can show better numbers on a dyno when you put a fan straight into it so it gets plenty of fresh air but later in closed engine compartment without properly sealed box around that cone filter it will suck in all hot air it can get and that just cannot be good.
IMHO best bang per buck is just to drop BMC filter into stock airbox and forget about this part.
It's somewhat subjective, don't you think?

Your right I am.But when I made the decision I looked at which company has a been around racing for a long time how much research and development goes into there products plus they warranty everything the sell.It was never about performance for me it was about sound, looks and price.I think I got all 3 with this cold air system.Just my opinion

How about the EVOMs intake? Sure, $600, but you get the filter. The BMC filter is $125 alone, the most incredible price I've ever seen for a filter BTW. And the BMC filter isn't going to improve intake sound.
How do you cap the Heimholz resonator without somehow doing something to the airbox connector tube? Devise a plastic cap and then reattach the tube? Any suggestions here?

Find a cap in your garage that just fits the resonator opening and cut it down to fit. The rubber hose then fits right over it. On or off in 2 minutes.
No air actually flows thru the resonator, it is basically just a small chamber that is tuned to muffle certain intake frequencies.
If you cant find a cap in your house i think a Gillete Gel shave cream cap will do the job.
I went with the Schnell and a TrueFlow filter. The car came with PSE. I think there is definately a difference in sound and perhaps a little quicker rev.
