Recently purchased my '05 C2S with just over 10,000 miles on it. The only issue I've had is slight sweating of oil near the rear main seal. This is likely a function of the car not having been driven... which is being remedied.
Bought at 22k, now 57k. only issue was recall on tailpipe and vent/ac controls tht porsche wants to charge me $600 for.
fyi. get EVERYTHING cosmetic fixed under warranty if you can. rear side window squeaks is a bolt that needs tightening. check the vent/ac controls. they will cahnge them under warranty. it's a know issue.
Bought mine earlier this year with 53K miles on it. CPO car from Florida, one previous owner. '05 C2 S, Seal Gray with Cocoa, 6 speed, newer PCM, Bose.
No issues 'til around 56,500 when the engine let go - IMS failure.
Porsche replaced the engine and I was only without it for 3 weeks. I was preparing for the worst case scenario but Porsche took excellent car of me. Considering what I paid for the car, I'm thrilled (even with the great deals out there, this car was a steal at the price I paid)
Since then, I've replaced the rotors and pads, added new wheels and tires, and I'm having the leather redone by Robert at 928 Leather (it had supple which I didn't like, and I also wanted the console and a few other bits done in leather). Anyhow, with the exception of paint, suspension and gearbox it's nearly a new car. One of these days I'll get around to posting pics of her and her sister ('07 Boxster S) - I'll likely wait until I get the seats and bits back from Robert to show off his fantastic work. He uses the same OEM leather and materials as Porsche so the look is factory stock.
FWIW, I also have peeling on the temp control slider, but not the fan slider. There are a few used HVAC units on Ebay for sale, and they all have this issue. Sadly, Porsche does not list the switch by itself in the PET catalog so you have to replace the entire unit or paint the switches. I've found that a black Sharpie fills in the smaller spots more or less to a satisfactory level.
43,000 miles and going strong! I am constantly tweaking it here and there, and upgrading various bits and pieces, like a new ebrake handle, new shifter, new steering wheel soon, a gasket or seal here or there- just what I consider upkeep- I'm picky!
CATMAN
59k on my daily driver. getting ready to do 60k service myself. have had no issues with the car whatsoever. did pads and rotors at 50k, oil changes every 5k.
[quote=buckwheat986;2588235]bought cpo at 36700 miles...engine crapped out at 37000 miles....new engine put in...new engine has 3K miles and runs great...
Do you time the stock market as well as you do engines.
