997.1S + PSE + AWE Cats = Magnificent!

For anyone who felt that the 997.1 w/PSE was still a little lacking in the exhaust department- I am happy to report that adding AWE hi-flow cats to the mix really fills out the exhaust note and sounds absolutely magnificent- stock quiet at idle but truly inspiring at WOT and everywhere in between! I was a little skeptical at first but purchased the cats after reading about them on this board and at the recommendation of Justin at Rennsport-1- they just sound ridiculously good! Highly recommended!

Awesome, now add some X51 headers. The headers give it a slightly deeper tone.

997.1S + AWE Mufflers + AWE Cats + AWE Headers = Magnificent!

+1, I have EVOMS headers with my setup and it sounds great, I haven't been blacked flag for excessive sound at any of the tracks either. I think that a full system will put me over the top.

this is definitely going to be my next mod. after talking to a couple of other boarders, this seems the best addition to those with PSE.

Are there any PSE + aftermarket cats owners who don't like the note?

Leaving gains out of the equation for a moment - is there anyone who's combined PSE with 200 cell cats and not liked it?

The reason I ask is simple - I used to have 200 cell cats with the stock exhaust and found it to be a bit ringy, nasal and unpleasant. Replacing stock cans with AWE units resulted in the sound I was looking for.

I think it's the nature of the metallic substrate that results in this tone - I know I'm in the minority here but I wish there was an aftermarket ceramic cat perhaps that was a compromise between the 200 cell metal substrate and the OEMs. I find the PSE note with x51 headers and OEM cats to be just about right, but I also know firsthand the gains 200 cell cats provide and miss it.

I just have the PSE + X51 Headers and love the sound. Because I'm in Cali I don't plan on doing the cats, but I imagine it would just make the sound louder not alter its characteristics.

Me too!

In quiet mode, I don't find the cats much louder than stock until higher RPMs. In loud mode, the cats add much more bark the sound, especially at higher RPMs.
