- any other brand out there doing the same thing possibly better?
- Is this hard to install yourself
- do you have full control of the ipod functions for the PCM?
- any downside?
- best price I can find is $479 from BumperPlugs - have you seen it elsewhere cheaper?
- any thoughts on the Bluetooth system they offer with it - does it work well or is there an easier way to integrate the phone (I have the phone system that works with a chip installed in my car, but removing the chip from my Iphone and plug it in the car seems to be too involved every time I drive.
Tks for help

In addition to Dension, there's NavTV & MoBridge (maybe more but that's all i know of), i have the NavTV and my friend has Dension,,,,,Dension is much better. If you do a search there are lots of threads on all these products

Depends how handy and comfortable you are. The Dension instructions are pretty straight forward, but i'm a clumsy simpleton who would most likely fry something, so i had someone do it

yes----but there are some limitations depending on the one you choose
- any downside?
It will never be as easy as using your ipod, but it's nice to have all that music at you disposal

I've heard nothing but good things about BumperPlugs, and they're really helpful too. It's not always about the price, but the support you get afterwards

I use Tooki and love it. It will cost more but i wasn't impressed with the Dension BT quality, might just be my phone (i have an iphone 3GS)
These ipod questions always lead me to wonder why most people don't buy the integrated usb/ipod/aux when they order their car new
I cannot comment on the unit you mention but since you have a cab I will comment on my MoBridge experience. Re iPod control the Porsche audio system controls renders the iPod controls to be rather limited and clunky. It's no fault of the aftermarket people. Just a limitation of the system with which they are interfacing. It's easier to control the iPod directly.
Re bt, the cab is a noisy environment. With the top down it is useless. The microphone picks up too much ambient noise. With the top up it works quite well.

I could not agree more with you, but unfortunately Porsche did not offer that for the 2006 model (at that time telephone was integrated through a Sim card) and I did not buy the car new ...
I talked with my local dealer and they said that Porsche will have an OEM sirius/bt/ipod unit coming out in the next 6 months (to be installed on 997s that did not have these options from the factory)....has anyone else heard anything about this?
do you have any challenges with the controls from the PCM keyboard or can you select songs/playlists etc with no problems and are artist/song etc displayed?
Would you know if there is a function to display Album Artwork or what would be even better while standing, be able to watch Ipod videos?
I just installed Dension Gateway 500 a couple of weeks ago. Do a search in this forum, I did a write up on complete installation process with multiple reference links. I took me about two hours.
If you Google "Dension Gateway 500" you will find other vendors with better pricing. They are not sponsors of this site, so I do not want to openly promote them.

I have Mobridge - it is nice enough system, you get ipod and bluetooth phone interface in same unit for $600-700 or so. It is probably not hard to install it yourself, if you have no cd changer as it substitutes it. you will not have 'full' control over ipod but you still can choose music you want to play and I guess that is what matters.
bluetooth phone system is a must have feature in 997 car. very convenient plus it stops music when you get a call so you never miss it and it keeps your hands free. for better bluetooth connection you need to mount unit behind glove box if you intend to keep your phone in your pocket. mine is mounted in trunk right above navigational dvd unit and for good bluetooth link i need to keep my phone in glovebox or on front central panel.
