So, I caught the P-Car bug and managed to scratch that itch (please excuse the mixed metaphors) by purchasing a CPO'ed 06 C4S Cab with about 10k miles. The ride home from the dealer was precisely what I had hoped for. Despite losing close to 150bhp stepping down from my current M5 to the Pcar, the ride was extraordinary and exceeded all expectations.
Once I got home I took the family out for a ride with the top down and everyone was thrilled with the new car. To celebrate the new purchase, I offered to run over to our favorite take out restaurant and bring back dinner for everyone (mother-in-law included...that's how great a mood I was in).
On the ride home from the restaurant, the "check engine" light went on and on acceleration (regardless of gear or amount of throttle applied) the car (specifically the steering wheel) shuttered pretty hard. I also felt that the response of the throttle to the peddle was very reduced.
I managed to get the car home and called roadside for a tow to my local dealer the next day.
So, here I sit at work wondering if I bought a lemon. The PPI and DME scan were perfect and yet here I am without my car.
What started out as the fulfillment of a dream has turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. I am sure that the car will be fixed...but the bloom is off the rose.
No other words to describe it...I'm just devastated.

Damn. I'm sorry. That sucks. Car is under warranty, and if it's a IMS failure or something of that sort, that may not have been picked up in the PPI... it'll be put right, but I totally understand where you're coming from.
Hopefully your dealer will put you in a P-Car loaner in the interim.

I have seen as little as a loose gas cap cause weird issues. Hope for the best, expect the worst and wait to hear what they say. I feel confident this will be okay. I just have that feeling for you. I will stay positive for you, as I am sure it is hard to be right now

Thanks for the words of encouragement, they are welcome and further proof of the sense of community this board has instilled in its members (and long-time lurkers).
I had almost the same thing happen to my car but it was two day after the purchase. I had a bad coil pack and a stuck lifter. All fix under the CPO. Still sucked.
If it makes you feel better I had to take mine to a dealer when it had 0,130 (hundred thirty) miles on it. Faulty wastegate actuator. Things happen. You will be a happy camper very soon! Hang in there!
This sort of experience certainly dampens enthusiasm, especially when it occurs just after purchase, but I’m sure that you’ll be back on the road in no time.

I'm sure it should work out for the best. It's unfortunate it happened on the day of the purchase. Kinda puts a little damper on the excitement. Keep us posted and let us know how it all works out.

that is really terrible...but you got a new P car! congratulations! I came out of an M6 and couldn't be happier. Your dealer will get it right and you and your family can enjoy the new car. Please post some pics...when you get it back!
Aaah, the benefits of CPO! It will all be fine - just be glad you have the warranty.
When I bought my first 911 (99 Cab), I got stopped for speeding within 12 hours of taking it home. Then, about 2 weeks later, I started seeing coolant leaks on the garage floor - yep, ye olde coolant tank problem. Then, after the 30k service (I bought it with right at 30k on the clock), I get a check engine light and have to go back to the dealer - turns out the air filter was put back in incorrectly. It was my first Porsche, and I was getting buyer's remorse big time. Once it was all fixed up, I never had another problem with it, and I forgot all about my inauspicious beginning and just enjoyed the car. My bet is you will too.
