So I want to buy a used car for my folks who live in Arizona and I was debating to buy a used car in California and driving it to Arizona or buying one in Arizona to get the advantage of lower state taxes. I was told that if you buy a used car in Arizona, you do not pay ANY state taxes at the DMV becasue when the car was purchased new, the first owner paid the state taxes. Is this true?
And if it is true, if I buy a car in California and drive it to Arizona, would I have to pay California state taxes, then when I register it in Arizona, can I get the California state taxes refunded since it was never registered in California and the owners reside in Arizona?
Thanks,
Jon

I haven'r seen forum member Stardoc (I think he may have sold his car) but he did buy it in California and drove it to Arizona .
I am not 100 percent sure on this but I think if the car is bought out of the state of Arizona and from a private party there is no sales tax . If its from a dealeship then there is sales tax. I did a search and found this info on another message board. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=260648
