Or is it only the C4S like the 996???

Yes, but only by about 1.5 inches

I knew all "S cars" were the high performance package cars with the engine/brake/suspension upgrade, but thought all "S" cars were wide bodies as well. Thanks NorthVan for clearing that up for me.

..and don't forget the not-available-for-North-America 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic, while this model is based on the rear-wheel-drive Carrera S, it features the wider rear body of the Carrera 4S.

Dont forget that compared to 996, the "narrow" 997 is wide with flared rear fenders.
The standard 996 is really slabsided, no coke bottle shape.
I fit 12" wheels under the rear bodywork of my 997S.

997S is a C2S and is NB. You can fit 12" wide wheels on a NB 997

Wow!!! I've had 12's under my 996TT, but now have 11.5 HRE 542R's. They are a more aggressive offset and I think the car rides and drives better, but I also have an adjustable GT3 rear sway bar to take out most of the push as well. I never would have thought about 12's under a NB 997. Thanks NorthVan!

Narrow bodies are better for fast, tight, twisty mountain roads.
