Do you depress the clutch all the way down when shifting?
The owner's manual recommends this... but it's so much easier and smoother to press the clutch down only to where the gears catch. Not sure if this puts extra wear on the transmission.

Sigh. I guess it's what I expected.
I do find it somewhat annyoing that I have to
-Depress clutch alllll the way
-Shift
-RELEASE CLUTCH SLIGHTLY TO A POINT WHERE THE GEARS CATCH
-then balance the gas/clutch
Doesn't really require additional thinking/effort but I definitely feel like it's smoother to just clutch in only half way or so, especially going from 1st to 2nd.

Your comment is not only irrelevant, it's illogical.
I am talking about differences in having to clutch in all the way vs. clutching only half way through. Don't post if you have nothing to contribute.

All the way, and make sure the shift is made before releasing the clutch...
If you do not mind my asking... how long have you been driving stick shift? and manual sports cars in particular?

I remember shifting gears without a clutch in the family pickup truck. You have to match engine and trans rpm. I will not try it with my 08C2S.

All the way! Old habit - good habit.
...gotta agree with you xbar, PDK won't do squat for you learning how to work your clutch - but it can mitigate the issue entirely.
Although I think that completely misses the point of PDK, as it would be a shame to think of it as a way to lazily disengage one's self from what should always be a fun, involved driving experience. Some people don't seem to get this.
