997.1 S versus 997.2 S Width

Does anyone know if the 997.2 S body is wider than the 997.1 S body? Is it possible the 997.2 body is as wide as the 997.1 C4S?

C4S is considered a wide body, the C2S is not. The difference is difficult to tell with the naked eye (~1.7" total width difference).

Here is a thread discussing the topic:

I have heard that the new 991 non S will be as wide as the older 997.2 4S model. So is that the case for the 997's? Did they widen the 997.2's when compared to the 997.1's?

A NB can looks like a WB with the addition of 15mm spacers and 305s. I like the looks of the WB, but the hump seems to break up the lines.

You can keeping asking the question but the answer is the same - body widths on 997.2 are the same as 997.1.

No one can put a finger on it, because its a illusion mix of items.

The wide body width, with the shape of the fenders, the hump, the lip around the tail lights, the lower ground clearance and the wider size of the rear tires all give a very noticeable look of WIDE.

Nothing is that much wider, but add them all up together and the illusion is FAT BUTT.

Its like small back pockets on a girls pair of paints or to vertical strips vs. horizontal strips on a shirt.

"its a real working illusion"

It's interesting that the 997.1 sits lower than the 997.2. What is the "sport chassis" they refer to in the 997.2 PDF? I thought you could get a sport version of the PASM for the 997.1?

It has always been that all the 4 models had a wider rear than the 2 models. This is directly related to the “All Wheel Drive” of the 4 models.

We need Yrralis1 to chime in on this. He usually has good info.

The 997.2 and 997.1 are the same width's. The 997 narrow body (C2, C2S) are almost exactly the same width as the 996 C4S (widebody).
