3.6 Exhaust System--What to do?
So it's pretty obvious that the 3.6 in my 2006 C2 could use a bit more torque to haul around my (read heavy) Cabriolet. Upgrading to a later 997S with a 3.8 is pretty much not an option for me, as I really like my C2 and I'm 71 and this will likely be my last toy car. I'm thinking about going with the X51 headers and probably the Agency Power cat-back option as I'd like to keep the noise to a reasonable level because the car is pretty much a cruiser. Thought I'd top it off with the 84mm IPD throttle body and intake setup so it would breathe on both ends. I've got the 74mm IPD setup now. Any thoughts on this option from some of you that have been experimenting with exhaust systems.
Thx, Lyn

GREAT car This is my honest take on it and strickly what I'd do if it were mine. I'd leave it alone. Those mods will not give you much HP gain or Torque gain. These are stellar cars designed incredibly well just the way they are. Relax, you have a P car it is awesome.

I have the same engine in a C2. I added the Borla cat back system - preferred it over the agency power as the tips are included and I got a great deal on it on Amazon - it has the ideal sound for my taste and it really seemed to aid the TQ to me - it hits significantly harder in the back when I mash the loud pedal
I also got the Evo M intake - did not feel to much of a gain if any with that
I have a question for you - how did the 74mm IPD plenum help did you notice any gains ?
I did the IPD plenum on my 08 CTT and it was a really amazing gain in power

It is hard to quantify what is deep - it is all very subjective. Main thing is that it sounds a lot more sporty like a sports car and it is significantly louder. For me far more important is that the car is without any doubt significantly faster with the borla system.
I would not do an exhaust modification that did not increase power - to me enhancement of VE is the most important function of an exhaust system - enhanced VE equals greater fuel efficiency and more power - and with a aftermarket system less weight hanging out behind the rear wheels which is the worst place for weight on a rear engine car
