997.2 Throw Code when replace stereo PCM3?

2009 C2S 99K miles Mt. Full Bose PCM3 with comm option.

Question1: Will the computer throw a code if I completely remove the PCM3 system? Will it light the dash?
Question 2: I have a Durametric Pro so can I tell the system the PCM is not there?

Please note, 'o8 and older, these cars behave very differently with these darn computer issues, so I am only interested in 997.2 experience.

I am going to replace the entire head unit and amplifiers for a new system but am worried about throwing a code.

I am told by a reputable source it will throw a code... he could not remember if it lit the dash or not. I don't care about the deep codes, but a light on the dash is not good.

Edit: I just checked floatingkiwi's Durametric catalog and it appears to be a few options to tell the system PCM installed/not installed. Maybe this is all I need.... any experiences here? I really don't want a permanent light on the dash.

Peace

Thanx for the information. I know floatingkiwi's log documents this in Durametric, but I would like to find someone who used this successfully. Good to know I can go to the dealer for this too.

Durametric is not Chinese, it is developed by a South African company Hex. http://www.hexdiagnostics.co.za/ I have used Durametric now a few times.... to reset my service reminders, coded the comfort windows, and chased down two check engine lights..... bad fuel cap and I cross threaded the oil cap... both caused vacuum issues. I also used it to chart live values on oil temps, revs, water temps, speed and other interesting values (just for fun). Durametric has never lead to an issue for me.

Peace
