I had an eye on the 911 in PA you listed there

To me it is, especially when you can find cars with much fewer miles for the same money. I'd also rather find something not modified and as close to pristine as possible. MY09 and up are much more reliable due to the direct injection motor (more powerful too), and the electronics like nav are much much better. I do prefer the sound of the '08 and older with PSE. Think about it, it's 10 years old, high mileage for a modern Porsche, and usually you won't find them as well maintained mechanically as aesthetically. That particular one looks fairly worn in the interior. For certain the next owner will get the pleasure of replacing all the fluids, primary belt, shift cables, battery, etc. at close to $2k. I looked for grins all across the US for the best $33K 997. Didn't see any I'd want. There were some older ones (997.1) with far fewer miles which were nice but the prices were well north of $40k. The Cayman S is the best choice at the same price point. The .2 has around 320hp compared to 997.1 S at 355. Plus will out drive the 997 in terms of cornering. But if you're stuck on having a 911 I understand.

To me the higher mileage isn't an issue if you plan on keeping it a long time. If this is your first 911, I believe odds are good you'll get it, love it, and likely want one a little newer/more technology/more power, different options, or more something. The higher miler will be worth less or harder to sell. Buy the nicest 911S with the lowest miles you can find in my humble opinion. But not too low of miles.
