Your average person would have no idea that the hood latch is outside the car, but if you have no garage i'd say either car is a big target.

I always wanted a viper. I think they are one of the most badass looking cars on the road period. When I was in the market I went out and drove several and was so disappointed. They felt so cheap (build quality is just horrible). I still found myself trying to convince myself that I would like the car though. Just as I thought I was ready to buy one I would take another test drive only to be disapointed again. I've driven 4-5 SRT10s. Then I change gears and started looking at Z06s. So one day I saw a LMB Z06 for sale and I decided to go and look at it. After a detailed inspection I decided to take it for a test drive. My wife and I jumped in and pulled away down the street. I hadn't even shifted into second gear yet and I looked over at her and said "SOLD"! It was that simple. I'm now into my 3rd year of ownership and I've never looked back. I love my Z06!

Viper all the way but if you could save up for the new style and new engine.. Its insanly fast.. And if you look at the Nuremberg track in Germany,.. The viper romps the vet "ZR1" by a full 4 seconds , and kicks the Nissan GTR by 10 sec or so.. and the bugattie by 18 seconds.. Viper is deff the way to go.l.

Vipers have exclusivity, it that is your goal, then get it!!! Not too sure on this one, but have seen posted on other boards that if you are selecting a DD then stick with the C6Z. My C6 is my DD, maybe 18K miles a year, no issues, and if I chose I can get 34mph on highway and around 23 combined.

For a DD, not doubt go with the 'Vette. If attention is the goal, the Viper is the choice. Every time I pull mine out, it gets massive attention . More so than any car I currently own. The only car I have been in that has gotten more attention was a Gallardo.
Either car, or for that matter, any car can be made to be insanely fast. That would not be the issue for me. To me, the question would be intent: DD or attention?

ORYX will become famous soon enough
The Viper that ran at the 'ring, was an '09 ACR, big difference between that and an '04 Viper. An extra 90 hp, better tires, its lighter, aerodynamic changes, better brakes and different shocks, all this combined makes a huge difference. The 2009 ACR ran a 7:22, the 2005 Viper SRT-10 ran a 7:59 and the 2006 Z06 ran a 7:42.

Those who posted above need to get there facts straight.

I expected the audience would know that it was a ACR since we were comparing the ZR1 which is brand new, .. I compare apples to apples not apples to oranges .. So if you wanna get your facts straight use some common sense ..

Thank you .. That is all.

I have driven both in the last couple days, mainly as I want a fun weekend car. Having been in both the viper is totally for me. Its crass, obnoxious and just fun to drive, its actually quite easy to drive in legal speeds. I could care less about the looks on the Z06 but it is a much more friendly in terms of a DD, and much more secure if it was parked outside overnight.

I do wish there was traction control on the Viper, and a low speed HP setting for when you are stuck in traffic or just plodding along. Plus the side mirrors need to be bigger but for shear motoring joy the viper is just a blast. Its a extroverts car though.

On a side note I drive a SRT-10 RC Ram as a daily driver so my idea of daily drivable is different then most.

Well the idea of a viper is really sinking in and if I can find a place to secure the ride or even just the latch for the hood, I will probably make the switch

Its my understanding that there are a few aftermarket options to remedy this.

I am going through this right ow. I have three bids out right now of 06+ convertibles.

You seem a bit confused, let me simplify this so you can understand. In the title of this thread the original post asks members about an '04 Viper SRT-10 and an '06 Z06. People (mainly you) started throwing around numbers from an '09 ACR and the ZR1, not what was originally asked.
You see the thing about common sense is that it is not so common any more.

Not what was asked...

He could also save up and get a Bugatti and "romp" a Viper in the 1/4 mile. <---- An example of your type of flawed thinking.
