I have a chance to get a 2006 Srt8 300c. Black on black, nice rims, really cool looking car.
I test drove...damn! The power is really amazing, the engine is simple and straightforward, but extremely powerful and fun to drive.
My question is - I am used to German Cars (Mercedes/BMW), and for the price, I can get a used AMG or an M3 that is slightly older - like a 2003 CL55 AMG, something like that.
Do you guys think those are just much better, or does the SRT8 hold its own? The 300c SRT8 is pretty rare, I've only seen 1 in the streets, while Mercs and BMW's are fairly common, even AMG's and M's.

From owning both a 300 SRT8 and a Jeep SRT8, i'd say stick to your german ways. Yeah the SRT's are fun, but they are cheaply made, and get old real fast. Buy something different... My Jeep SRT was so much more exciting to drive than the 300.

People do compliment on it, they have no idea what it was. a 6.1L under the hood of a family sedan gets alot of people... Compared to s4's, m3's, and m5's this car doesnt even compare. For the price, they are worth it. You need to be happy driving it, and get the lust you are looking for. Who cares what other people think? I turned more heads, with big wheels 24'' + than any SRT i have owned.

think about it, you pull up with a srt-8, and someone pulls up in a m3 or m6, who you think is going to get more respect? As well as the status of owning a bmw or benz, the respect come along with it, with the srt-8 beside the growl, and beefy engine it still a american car, that is in trouble. You could even get a m6 2006 for for about 48,000. look into those.

Jeep SRT-8 is more fun to me to drive then the 300, I don't know what it is, but the Jeep is ****loads of fun especially when modded, just has a nice raw nature to it.
if you can afford the 55 amg car, not only is it easier to mod, but the tranny + motor will hold up better to higher hp bolt ons. 11 second cl, sl, e classes, are just bolt ons...vs adding all those parts on an srt-8.

True but you are talking about a supercharged V8 vs a N/A V8. A turbo/supercharged motor always easier to mod and gain more Hp overall.

I've had mine now for 4 years...
72,000+ miles
numerous marque vehicles stomped on and surprised...
tracked numerous times...
do you want a car that is a sleeper that will kick most cars arse that you can throw the kids in the car seats in the back and then take the wife out to dinner after a track day?
This is the car.
There are a ton of higher end vehicles out there, yes.
Money buys anything.
But for the money, there is nothing that touches this vehicle.
Ask the "new" M5 boys that thought my cold air intake was a supercharger running Palomar...
This car will go straight and will turn with the best of them.
But what do I know...
I only have 72,000+ miles and 4 years and 30 hours of legal track time on my Vixen...

I understand everything your saying. But your not comparing to an M5 are you?

yes.
There are a slew of M5 guys that didn't believe it either out here in SD & So. Cal that ran the Palomar run last year a couple of times...
but seeing is believing.
Check out the BMW boards for the thread.
as for a straight line - a buddy of mine and I have never lost to one yet on the road or on the track. No engine mods either.
Now is the BMW a nicer car?
Hell ya - but for twice the price?
No way.
But's that just me.
Happy motoring man.
maybe my 30 hours of track time helps significantly as well - I don't know.
I just love to drive cars and drive with guys that love it too.
