I have compiled a PDF on roughly how the kit works and a few pointers on how it is installed. In essence, the CD Changer needs to be removed for the 'Gateway' device (ipod kit) to be installed. This involves removing the armrest, the centre console/gear knob panel, top facia (Nav screen area) and finally the ICM (Infotainment control module). Once this has been done then the CD Changer can be removed and the Fiber (Fibre (UK spelling)) Optic cable can be removed. Our unit is then fed into this with the supplied Fiber optics and the whole lot is re-assembled. Be under no illusion, this is not an easy task, however I am more than happy to instruct verbally on how it can be done. I would love to be able to travel the US and carry out installation work, however with a young family this won't happen for a while.
Web purchase should be available towards the end of the week, however if you can't wait that long then let me have a fax number and I can send our bank details across to enable clients to transfer funds for a purchase.
I have enclosed a picture of the switch. This can be placed anywhere you wish (within reason!).
The location I normally use is at the leading edge of the centre console, where the carpet starts, directly below the glovebox. I hope that makes sense.
If you are only going to use Ipod though and not the CD Changer, then this could be hidden behind the carpet. I have put a black line on the switch photo to indicate where it can go. The other pictures may give you some idea of how much comes to pieces.
As for time to install, It really depends on experience of tearing the centre dash out of the car. I have done quite a number of these now and I am down to about 1 hour 15 mins. Less experienced may take 3 hours. There is no cheating, quick way of doing it I'm afraid.
I am on hand to advise, over the phone, on installation procedure. However PLEASE ring me before you start..... It makes life an awful lot easier!
