V8 Vantage Headers Project Completed!

Hi Everyone,

Very pleased to announce that Velocity has just signed off on our V8 Vantage Headers Design, and that they are now available to order in both Stainless Steel, and in Inconel 625.

The original Aston Martin manifolds as fitted to the V8 Vantage are extremely restrictive, and are built to a price, sacrificing vital horsepower and torque of which the V8 Vantage is sorely in need. Velocity's design has been specially tailored to work in conjunction with our 200 Cell Sports Catalysts to bring the V8 Vantage to its full performance potential.

How are Velocity's manifolds different to existing products from other companies? (Other than being substantially less expensive because you are buying manufacturer direct!) Some of the other products in the marketplace advertise equal length primaries but have as much as 85mm difference in length. Velocity's V8 Vantage Manifolds feature identical length primaries for optimum power & torque increases, in spite of the increased complexity of design required. Initial primary diameter is 40mm, transitioned into 70mm secondary, and flared to 76mm for the catalyst flange. Each primary pipe is exactly 400mm long. We don't just claim this to be true, you can measure them for yourself and see!

In addition to millimeter perfect primary lengths, the Velocity V8 Vantage manifolds / headers also feature a fully fabricated merge collector, not a formed/pressed collector which is cheaper, but robs vital power as it does not merge the 4 exhaust gas flows equally. See product's photos to see the knife-edged internal structure, and the level of workmanship and attention to detail that is put into every set of Aston Martin Exhaust Manifolds we produce.

These manifolds / headers were independently performance tested on a Dyno Dynamics rolling road, along with our 200 cell sports catalysts, performance exhaust system and ECU Tune. Known the world over for being the most accurate and consistent dynos, Dyno Dynamics are also known as 'The Heartbreaker' because they are notorious for their low-readings. Our customer's car produced baseline peak performance figures of 335.5BHP. Following the installation of our manifolds, sports catalysts, exhaust system & ECU Tune, the peak BHP figure was raised to 378.8BHP. An increase of 43.3BHP or 12.9%.

Given that Dyno Dynamics are notorious for giving low readings, it is important to recognize that these dyno results actually represent a BHP gain of greater than 43.3BHP. The manufacturer's stated output for the 4.3L V8 Vantage is 380BHP. A 12.9% increase over this figure would represent a gain of 49BHP, and a flywheel output of 429BHP.

Similarly, torque has been increased by 35-40ft/lbs from 4000RPM onwards, an increase of around 13-15%. The manufacturer's stated maximum output is 302ft/lbs @5500RPM. The true flywheel torque figure on this test car is now likely around 345-350ft/lbs. This is perhaps the most significant area of improvement. Downshifting is now much less necessary in order to access the torque band, and this 4.3L car will now outrun a 4.7L later model car.

Similar results can be expected on the 2009-on 4.7L cars.
FITS ALL V8 VANTAGE VARIANTS 2006-2010MY, AND ALL V8 VANTAGE VARIANTS 2011-ON WHEN FITTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR 200 CELL SPORTS CATALYSTS.

Very nice!!!!
I found with both my TT corvette & my NA viper, the equal length on the primaries made a big difference in the upper end of the torque band.
Is there a significant cost difference between the Inconel & the SS?
Will you also be offering any coating options?
Thanks!

Thank-you. Yes, equal length primaries are very important. They are not always easy to achieve, and if you look at our design you'll see that there's quite a lot of extra work in routing the primaries to get them to fit within the silhouette and actually achieve equal lengths.

Ceramic coating will be an option, looks like around $400-500 depending upon the coating selected. I'm not supposed to post pricing in the open forum but if you click the link below to our exhausts section, the Inconel and Stainless headers are both listed there.

Yeah I know, sorry....

If it makes it any easier, we have also put these together into packages for some pretty solid price savings:

Great headers, do you have have individual dynos of just the headers? That will help demonstrate how much of those gains are just from the headers. Do those dynos include aftermarket catback exhaust As well? I wasn't entirely sure based on description.

Definitely a nice boost over stock for sure. As I stated before (and this confirms), it is super hard to make a ton of HP-TQ under 4000rpm. For some reason the 4.3L motors just don't want to make any torque on bottoms end lol

Most mportantly ... Individual MSRP prices of each component separately would help. You are an authorized sponsor/vendor so that is totally allowed.

Dyno was for sports exhaust, 200 cell cats, headers & ECU tune. No, we didn't dyno them individually, just as a whole. I have all the MSRP's on the website, for example this link shows the full power pack including the exhaust: http://www.velocityap.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AMV8PPExhaust

All the MSRP's are listed there as part of the package, if you add them all up it comes to $1500 more than the package price, so that's a pretty nice savings . Prices are as follows:

Headers: $2995.00
Cats: $1895.00
Exhaust: $2495.00
ECU: $1395.00
Filters: $135.00

Package Price is $7495.00. If you keep the OEM back box, the package price is $5495.00, and you only lose about 4BHP from the 49 total.

Great job on pricing the headers at $2995, glad its under $3k. For those quality headers that's definitely a good deal. I just wish there was in independent dyno of JUST the headers. If you mange to get another customer, please dyno before/after on just the headers, that would help out a ton.

Great job!

Headers only dyno would be interesting. I am concerned that the 200cell CATs will be too loud for my taste. I already have the Vantage S sports exhaust not sure if much increase would be liveable. When I tried a set of sports cats on my 2006 Porsche 997, they were to loud with the Prosche sport exhaust so I sold them.

Also, Will the header collectors bolt to the factory CATS, what fabrication/modification would be necessary?

Yes, you can bolt these on with the OEM catalysts. I'd say you're still leaving a big chunk of the most inexpensive power on the table if you do that.

One thing that is worth bearing in mind is that we can re-map the exhaust valves to open & close at different points. So for example, you could run with the valves closed, and have them open earlier, or later in order to fine tune the sound to your preferences.
