I think s5 is a tricky car to dress up properly with aftermarket wheels. I have seen many S5 with wheels but have not liked any single one of them. It looks just right with the stock wheels (maybe a bit bigger)
Regarding the op's car though - This is why you should love the forum because people give you their true opinion.
At meets or w/e maryland small town gatherings you're referring to, everybody tells you that they love it when in reality half of them are probably making a note to themselves to never do what you did to their cars in the future.
I like that you are bold enough to go after what you want regardless of the outcome, but maybe that boldness was grown solely out of lack of honest and competent critiques around where you live.
I'm sorry but it doesn't work. One theme cannot be universally applied to any car. I would never drive around like that in the city, I would be down right embarrassed.
On a brighter note, I don't see many people mixing Japanese style modifying with German cars, maybe you can go somewhere with this.

The anodized red doesn't work... neither do stepped lips, IMHO. They make the wheel look incredibly tiny. Monoblok's FTW.
