Hi I havent realy posted alot on these forums before but have been a constantly visiting here and am active on other R8 forums, I thought I should share this story with you guys and maybe some one can benifit from my experience in the future, or can give me some kind of info from past experiences....
well about a year ago my R8 was having white smoke comming out of the tail pipe, the computer never threw any codes but the performance of the car was lacking, when i took it to the dealers it turned out that cylinder number 8 had oil leaking into the chamber and the engine needed to be replaced, the car had 14,000 kilometers at the time......reluctantly I accepted the engine change as long as they warrentied it as a new engine and they accpeted.....well last night while i was driving home, i heard a realy faint knocking sound, at first i thought it was the heat shield from the stasis exhuast could have loosend up...but by the time i got home the knocking became loud and had a pattern to it, well took it to the dealers this morning and the machanic told me looks like i have a blown engine and it sounds like one of the pistons is shot........the car has 28,000 kilometers and never had its first service done since the first service is done at 15,000 kilometers.....so basicly in 1 years i blew 2 engines......needles to say im not accepting a new engine this time, either a new car or they buy out my old car ad use it as a deposit for the v10......do u guys think i have a case here ?

power wise its not bad alittle faster than the cerrara S and slower than the GT3 so its in between but the R8's true charecter comes in the twisties, nothing drives like it

Another fail for Audi. It seems hit and miss with this brand. Some owners have high miles and no problems and others have low miles and the worst problems. My S4 with only 40k on it lost its engine due to defective cam followers. I bought a donor motor that was supposed to be good out of a 2007 with only 11k on it and turns out that motor had a bent crankshaft at 11k miles !
Great cars to drive when they are working, only own under warranty though is what I found out.
I would definitely say you have a case, I would go for the v10

Very sorry to hear about your engine issues! I don't know if you would have a case vs. Audi agreeing to replace the engine once again. Either way, it is worth a shot. If no success, at least have the engine replaced under warranty, then sell the car or trade it back. I wish you good luck with this.

Agree with deviant customs, Audi is hit and miss. Lots of issues with da Rs4. On the other-hand a female friend of mine has an b5 s4 , 110k Miles. NO ISSUES!
God i hope the V10 R8 has no issues. I want one soo bad.
To answer your question about having a case. I think you do. lemon law.

^ agreed. Your engine keeps going bum do to faulty parts they can be held responsible. If you blew it up by pure abuse that would be another story. 2 motors in that mileage I think it is faulty parts just like my audi motor was.

You may get some ASSISTANCE on a new Audi (deep dicount, overallowance on your existing car or both). The best thing you have going for you is that this is your second major issue. You were a good enough cusomter to take the first issue without bxxting, but you've got to let them know that this is too much. Do you own this thing or are you leasing it? If you own it, it's going to be pretty tough to get off once you disclose that it has had TWO engine replacements. If you're leasing, then the problem is Audi's as well. Perhaps some credit on your lease? I think everyone is going to find, if you haven't already, that the manufacturers are playing a lot tougher in the warranty game now. It's a place where they can save real hard $$, at the risk of losing customers of course.
