Its weird how Carillo rods all look the same. Their design doesnt change from car to car really. Those look just like the ones they use for Evos. I went with crowers in the evo though because they were alot lighter and held up just fine.

I'm just surprised that it's on stock internals. 700hp has long been the acknowledged threshold of the stock 996TT engine, not just by EVOMS, but other builders as well such as Protomotive. The Euro tuners such as 9FF, Ruf and Gemballa usually dig into the internals well under 700hp. Having said that, I'm very confident in Tym's abilities and Switzer is a very capable builder and the first to my knowledge that has been able to use a standalone on the TT, so I'm confident in the build. But like Jitsu said, the next owner (hopefully me if the cars still available in about 2 months possibly) is going to have to be one who truly understands the car and it's capabilities but willing to use it correctly, they'll have to practice a little bit of restraint and not be on full boost all the time. I could be wrong, but I believe Tym Switzer is the first to build 800hp cars on stock internals, I'm pretty sure even Todd K builds the internals when going over 700hp, but to my knowledge he hasn't built one using a standalone yet. Now that he's doing this in collaboration with Tym, maybe you're right, the limits of the stock internals have just been pushed that much further with the efficiency of the standalone! Amazing how over engineered these cars really are, gotta love it!
Anyway, I'm sure that if Switzer's willing to build it, it'll be a hell of a car. The only weak point in the TT engine for high horsepower builds in the past has been the Rods to my knowledge (which admittedly isn't much lol). I'm not saying they're gonna let go, but when putting 40K into an engine, new Carillo Rods would be nice insurance. Here's a pic I stole off of James Wong's GT800 for sale thread showing the difference between the stock and the Carillo's.

I wonder what's the labor if we need to replace stock rods
another $15K since the car is already apart....
but it's absolutely true.... that the main problem with guys running large turbos and high boost is that they get lazy and forget to put the C16 in the tank and think that they can get away without the good gas for that kind of boost.
truth is probably somewhere in between but this fact remains:
you can overboost your TT with shi**y fuel and blow your carrillo-rods just as fast.
the car is "stolen property" for the asking price.
call quick and buy it.... and have Tym do your rods and YOU can spend the extra $15K

I wonder if the stock internals argument is like it was for the Toyota Supra. Way back when, folks would build any bottom end that was going to make over 500whp. As time went on, people pushed the envelope and tuners got better and better to the point where some dynoed over 900whp on a stock bottom end. However the tuner that did this also told me he wouldn't recommend pushing the stock bottom end past 800 on the street (and running no less than C16 fuel). I'm wondering if the 996TT is getting to that level.
Anyway, can the boost be turned down enough to run 91 octane? I'd guess it probably wouldnt go much past 600whp this way, but its all we got down here

I think you raise a very good point about the increasing power levels seen from the stock bottom end.

of course it could! if i were to keep the car i was probably just going to run 1bar daily and then when out messing around run 1.3/1.4 on 91/93 octane fuel.
