i think they do a few things that are more than just bolt-ons; according to RUF but i'm not sure if that applies to your particular car. That said, it's a good thing, RUF does things right:
The kits range from 460 bhp to 590 bhp, beginning with only simple changes to the turbocharger, engine control unit, and sport air filter. At the highest modification level, RUF Intake Manifolds, a stronger clutch disc, titanium conrods, and performance camshafts are additionally installed together with larger turbochargers and a heavily modified ECU. This level of modification requires complete dis- and re-assembly of the engine.
Beginning September 2004, this car is available with the RUF suspension system (hydraulically adjustable).
You are correct - Ruf goes from ECU tuning, to bolt on's to completely built 3.8L motors - you see 590 hp, but they also will take the Nardo motor to 650 hp. Lots of options from Ruf, not the cheapest, but everything they do works.
remember that "cost of capital" should come into the equation if you need it liquid. HWVR otherwise no hurry. you should PDF-SCAN all of the RUF documentation and post it somewhere in order to drive more value and interest for the car. OR county might be swimming in turbo's but not RUF's. post all of the documentation from the conversion, otherwise you will get people telling you RUF doesn't matter and that their "bolt-on's" are an equivalent. for the discerning buyer, the RUF name matters somewhat more. don't believe all of the R&R matters on the car. people expect a car that has functional brakes and a clutch + good tires.

Any real buyer will get whatever documentation they desire. I don't need to educate the buyer - they will likely know what they are getting - otherwise they will not see the value, versus the many 2001's at lower prices and I will never hear from them. No worries here, car can sit in the garage forever!
