I am looking for a low mile (sub 10k), 2005 Turbo S Cab. Must be a 6 speed - no Tips. Midnight blue, lapis blue, bassalt black, seal grey, slate gray or polar silver. Cash buyer ready to pay market for the right car.
Thx in advance for any leads. I have been following all the usual places, e.g. here, autotrader, cars.com, rennlist, pca, ebay, etc..

I had the chance to drive a 05 Turbo S cab, back to back with an 09 997 TT Cab - even in light of the price delta I have decided to go with the 997 TT Cab.
If you do not mind my asking...what things made you go towards the 997 TT Cab?
Is the drive/comfort/style better enough to justify the difference in price?
I am also looking for my next conv. as my lease is running out and wanted to understand the scale of the difference between the 996TT Cab and 997TT Cab.
I do have a 996TT Coupe at the moment and it is an amazing vehicle.....i cannot imagine how much better it can get
I had a 2001 TT - then had Ruf Rturbo mods done (2002), then got a 2003 GT2, then a 2007 RS - all great cars, each offered something different and each just a little better than the one before. At this level we are talking about subtle differences, not huge changes. The RS was the best in terms of precision handling and interior quality, but I missed the power of the GT2 and the Ruf TT. Sold the RS, as I have a dedicated track car, so been toying with the idea of a convertible.
What impressed me most about the 997 TT versus the 996 TTS is it simply felt more solid, better ride, more precise in handling. Now you can't really tell all that much from a 5 mile drive in each, but I drove the 996 TTS first, and it felt familiar, like my 2001 - great car solid, good power. Then got in the 997 and it felt more solid, better power, more precise steering and handling. Overall just felt like the next evolution of the car. Most important my wife was along for the ride in both cars and she noticed the difference as well and said - "you have to get this one (the 997) it is so much nicer".
It is worth the price differential? Each of us has to answer that question as it relates to us. In my case I feel like the enjoyment I will get out of the 997 TT cab will be great, the fact that my wife is really excited about it and driving it is worth a lot and of course getting a new car with warranty has value. Finally getting the last of the Porsche's with the tried and true GT1 block is appealing to me as well. The cost differential is a lot ($50k +/-) and the 996 TTS is a great car, but you only live once so what the heck!
Have you tried a TTS with modified suspension? It makes a huge difference in handling and road feel.

Yes, on my 2001 TT I went from Stock to H&R springs - then went to Tech Art coilover's and adj. sway bars. That dramatically improved the handling-but lowered the car 1.5" and took away from everyday useability of the car. So it worked better and I found myself driving it less, in fact within 4 months I went and bought and M5 for everyday use.
On my 2003 GT2 I went with Moton clubsport shocks and many iterations of springs. To get it to handle great you had to compromise the street use and ride.
So my comparison is stock to stock, with the intention to leave it stock and use as a street car only. Also don't want the lowered ride ht, as my wife finds the inconvenience of avoiding curbs stop and driveways as something that keeps her out of the car. And I want her to enjoy the car as well.
I have a dedicated track car, so I don't need anything more than a great street car. Two great choices, but only 1 clear winner!
I'm in the exact same boat as you. Drove an 05 tt coupe and an 08tt yesterday in Houston. The 997 felt more "solid". Please keep us informed of what you do. and send me a PM am curious to find what you paid ad I'm thinking of picking something up the next few weeks.
