1989 Porsche Speedster

This gorgeous 1989 Porsche Speedster is presented in linen gray metallic paint with linen interior. This Speedster is one of 800 originally shipped to the United States in 1989. While the 89 Speedster was priced in the mid to upper 60k, speculators often paid in excess of 100k initially. This is one of those cars purchased by a collector/speculator brand new in 1989. I subsequently purchased this car in April, 2002, with 337 original miles!!

The production date of this car was June 16th,1989. It came with California emissions, has a 5 speed transmission with the shorter gear shift lever. This amazing vehicle has about 16,000 miles at present. In October of 2002, I switched out the original Fuchs wheels (sorry Fuchs fans) for a set of polished Kinesis K28 wheels. The rears measure 10” x 18” with Pirelli 285/30 ZR x 18 P Zero Rosso N4s, with 8” x 18” wheels and 235/40 ZR x 18 P Zeros on the front. Fortuneately for you Fuchs fans the original wheels have been stored away and have new Dunlop SP Sport 5000s mounted on them (they go with the car). The original Fuchs wheels have about 3000 miles on them.

While the vehicle has a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo, the original Blaupunkt “Reno” radio and speakers are packed away. This Speedster has the Sport seats, both left and right, with electric height adjustment. The original toolkit and Porsche compressor are included. The metallic pain, interior, and black convertible top are immaculate. I recently had a complete 15,000 mile service completed by a certified Porsche mechanic. There are no oil leaks. The car has been lowered 1” front and rear to give it that So Cal stance. No other changes have been made to its originality. What doesn’t it have? There is no air conditioning—but when you’re cruising PCH through Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Monarch Beach in the Real OC with the top down (mandatory here) who needs AC???

This 89 Speedster is absolutely stunning!! It is always garaged. Good luck finding a comparable Speedster out there. While I have been unable to find out how many Speedsters were produced in this color combination, I have seen only one other in the 8 years I have owned the car. One dealer that specializes in selling only Porsches said he has never seen this color combination on an 1989 Speedster!! Personalized plate reads 89SPED*. Brian 949-290-5162. Great looking car!!! I ordered one new in 88 at the auto show and took delivery in 89. Baltic blue/Cashmere. Wish I still had it!!

Although I am not a fan of white interiors, this car is beautiful.

I guess I am getting old, but the older Porsches look better to me now.
