In the market for a 911. Some questions
This is one of those typical posts, I know. I'm looking for a 911 coupe, manual tranny with fewer than 40,000 miles and under $30,000. I'm happy to note there are a lot of them that fit my criteria around. Most are 99-04 models I'm aware of the IMS bearing problem and assume that a PPI will find that. I'll have it done right away if it hasn't already been done.
Other than that, can anyone advise what to look for in these cars?
Thanks

if your interested in a 996 turbo speed yellow with a salvage title i have a friend with one. doesn't affect how the car runs or drives, no ims issues with the mezger engine and under 30,000$. worth a look

My 911 was a 997.2 so I never had any personal experience with the IMS issue, only what I've heard. From what I heard, the IMS is basically ok until it's not. What do I mean by that? There's no warning signs. nothing that would show you in advance, during an inspection, that it's going to crap out on you. If it's going to crap out on you, one day it will just crap out. I also heard it's not very expensive if you just replace the part before said crapping out.

Interested in a 2003
I have a 2003 with 40,100 miles and I'm asking less than 30k.
Polar silver on black, advanced tech package with heated seats /mirrors, Bose high end audio, three spoke steering wheel, alcantara head liner, aero side skirts, etc.
Very clean and well maintained. Sent you a pm a couple of days ago, let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for all the good input guys. I was away for a couple days closing a deal on a car I didn't know much about till now. I got a 2015 Subaru BRZ. I'm mightily impressed and can't wait to get it to the track. I love 911s but any in my price range would have been less practical as a DD with occasional track days.
