Really?
This car will speak for itself. As we all know the value of a Porsche is either a it's unique vintage or "condition". Often finances will determine our limits and outlook! With "Porsche" there's love and there's lust.
When neither applies it might be time to consider the (individual) car as opposed to what they might gain by comparing the nicest cars against the average, common denominator. We all love to steal cars when we can. This beautiful Cabriolet is far from a low end beater.
For those interested, this car is in exceptional condition and well worth the price (Two grand over the average for average for well maintained cars) . You can certainly find them cheaper but you may well be spending many $ to bring them to this level. "It is very Nice" Thanks for that. No apologies.
The cost of a Porsche is, first the dollars to secure it and second the dollars to bring it to a premium level. Tires, tuning, catchup repairs, personalization and etc.
If one is looking the best car, in the best condition a car with well managed road miles vs track and/or daily driver miles are miles apart.

No IMS issues here (well monitored). In the earlier 996's they were considered safe from IMS issues IF they passed 40K miles with no issues. The scare of IMS was a huge negative for them so values plummeted. The regular 996 cars are still some of the best priced, entry level Porsches you can buy.

Jesus - if you are really that worried about it then get it fixed for less than $2k and go on with life.

Likelyhood of IMS issue in the 05's and on is very minimal, and for any with 40K or more on the clock the concern goes away. Really never should have been there. But we each do want makes us feel good about our choices. Buy something else or buy a turbo, GT3, GT3 and remove any doubt.
Easy enough for a good shop or dealer to test the oil in the pan and filter for any signs of metal.
