Looking to buy a 997.2 Turbo S
#3
That's actually not true at all... I just ordered a set of Forgeline GT1's for my TTS and they weren't any more expensive than any other set of nice wheels for these cars. Selections are fairly plentiful across several different manufacturers. Center lock wheels are also not as high maintenance as people lead you to believe either.

All Tubro S models have ceramic brakes.
I have the centerlock wheels and if you do decide to get them, take some time to learn how to properly take them on and off. I offered to pay for an hour of labor for the tech to show me how to do this at my dealer. I was shown and not charged. Its not hard, its different and will mean you need to invest in some specialized tools to make the flat tire an inconvenience instead of a show stopper. There are no spare tires in any of the S models but if out on the road and you need to deal at a local shop (non p car dealer) some tire shops may not know how to deal with these or even have the tools.
They look great and I say if you find a car you like with them, go for it.

JS;where will you put the breaker bar....in a 991.1/991.2....?As you know,i`m sure...the bar is needed to remove a CL.....& if the owner is ham-fisted....could spell trouble with a tire issue...sure can always call for help.
Ciao......My 2017-ts..has lug bolts/ wheels....

on the road, I would expect the tire shop to have everything needed like a breaker bar, but not the torque wrench or CL specific lug.

I've had CL on my precious TTS and also had the torque wrench needed to remove and install wheels. A breaker is not necessary and torque wrench will cost about $350. After removing them a few times it really become quicker than 5 lugs. The CL bolt is included with the car and most tire shops in my area do have the torque wrench needed so it's not a big deal at all. Definetly not a deal breaker.

CL`s
Ok.....that's fine.....to a degree...its personal preference.
As for me.....when I ordered my 2017-ts....told the dealer
to have it sans"CL" wheels......
