Cessna 210s? Why so exepensive?

Why are such older models of the Cessna 210s going for so much 150-300k? what is so special about these planes?

To answer your question. There really isn't a replacement plane today for the 210 in any configuration, especially the pressurized one.

There are different 210s, but main difference between the 210s are Pressurized and Non Pressurized. Turbo and Non Turbo.

A pressurized turbo 210 is a very capable plane suitable for lots of missions. Even the non pressurized turbo 210 is a great plane. You can load it full of people (6), and **** and it'll just fly.

So many factors come into play when pricing a 210. Mainly because of the different 210 models (differences above), engine time, avionics, total time, and interior/paint.

+1

Also, a Pressurized Turbo 210 can carry 6 and fly at 25,000ft at 190kts. There are not too many aircraft that in that price range that can do that.

As Paul said, there is not a replacement for it. That leaves a gap in the "new" aircraft market. Cessna will never re-manufacturer the 210, because it does not comply with the newer FAR part 21 standards. There for, if you want an aircraft to do the above things, you have to buy an "older" 210. Thus, keeping demand up.

BTW, a P210 is my dream aircraft!

The latest news from OSH is that the Diamond DA-50 will have light pressurization. Its a 5-seater. They expect to have a conforming pressurized prototype this time next year.

It's the closest thing to a replacement for a P210, but I bet it won't be available for a dime less than $750K, probably closer to $900K well optioned.

Ive owned 2, an older one with wing struts 69, and a newer Centurion, and also a 206 which was a variant, all were decent planes, but the Cessna avionics had a lot to be desired..I revamped them...

And a very stable platform that could carry considerable weight.

Wow!

For $750K+ you could buy a P210 and then have it converted into a Silver Eagle. You would probably still save some money.

Probably part of the higher cost is that it still has a commercial value for passengers or small freight.

The 210 was known as the drug runners aircraft, not only is it an amazing performing aircraft, it can handle more cargo then any aircraft in its class. If you want one cheap just take a ride through the desert in Mexico, you'll find more then one
