In light of 411's aviation pics, here are a few of my own

I "work" airshows during the summer for a veterans organization and I get to sit directly under the aircraft as they do their show. Meaning, that strip of grass that is in between runways, I am literally sitting out there in a hooch, while I wait for our guys to do our thing. The group I belong to is called The Army Aviation Foundation, our demonstration team is called Sky Soldiers. If you go to a show, see that we are there, come find me.

If you've ever seen a Pearl Harbor or Vietname style battle re-inactment, and and you've seen the big explosions that go with the show; then you've seen my group. I'm the guy that builds and sets off the pyrotechnics.

I have some pics of Patty Wagstaff directly over head, nose down directly over my head. She pulls up low enough that I get doused in her smoke, and prop wash. I've had my hat blown off by an F14 doing a low speed pass, and our helicopters fly low enough that the pilots try to make sport of throwing things at me from the bird. Its all good till I start lighting up dyno-mite, ammonium nitrate, and another home brew...

A few shots:
Our last show at NAS Atlanta. This was taken from our observation helo. I had set the infield on fire. I'm in the middle of all that, and the Blue Angels were pissed cause their planes got dirty. For real.

The culmination of 100 sticks of TNT coming directly at my hooch, simulating a gun run by a Huey Cobra.

We own, literally, 15 of these things.

Vietname era pilots have a sick sense of humor

From the gunners seat: This is how we get from show to show.

It is amazing. And quite literally a rush, because the nitro from the dynamite soaks into your skin and increases your heart rate. So you can be standing still, and breathing heavy. If one forget to wear gloves of course...

A LOT of work prior to the show though. We get there the night before, and literally stay up all night making our "home brew", which comprises most of the pyro for the show. We literally collect 16 ounce plastic soda bottles, and I use hundreds of them for the show, full of "stuff" that when mixed, makes nice hollywood style boom booms.

Lemme ask, are you a fling wing pilot? Hours? The foundation is always looking for qual'd pilots. This year, we've become the Army's precision flying team, much in the same way that the Navy has the Angels, and the Air Force has the T'birds. So, a lot of the guys that flew the battle show, now fly the precision show; so flying talent is in demand. The pay sucks, cause there is none; but the fun factor is high.

Oh great, first I argue with you over TKD and Muay Thai, then I see the pic of you wrestling and now i see you playing with 100 sticks of TNT and gunships.

Note to senior members, advise newbies who not to argue with

PS Chokeu2, did you end up coming to my neck of the woods?
