Anyone removed the GT door sills before?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to remove the door sills from my GT so I can get them chrome plated, anyone done the task of removing them before?

Here is the relevant information for the inner treadplate (from the IETIS service manual). The outer treadplates are glued down. The second diagram provides the instructions.

Typically, whichever one(s) you remove you end up having to replace. I have yet to see one be removed & remain in reusable condition.

AE86, what do you mean by them become unusable, do they become deformed/elements snapped off?

Sorry, i should have clarified. Yes, by unusable I mean cosmetically they get dented / warped etc... Technically usable but not pretty to look at anymore.

I see, do you think it's possible that with a bit of care, that it can be removed without warping?

No need to remove them

bro, i have a 2005 gt and my sills were a mess i took it my my detailer and he used one of his machines on them and now they look like new...he did an amzing job on them so if you have a guy who knows what he is doing as a detailer go to him and he will fix them right up...they want stupid mon ey to replace them
