I don't think there's anything specifically being referenced as "weak" other than I-drive. It's just that it is not as luxurious/ergonomic/ good-looking as the offerings from Audi or M-B. I think BMW is in the midst of finding themselves stylistically both inside and out. If you haven't driven the B7, get thyself to NJ or NY and I'm sure Sean will give you some seat-time in his as we always look for an excuse to get together (not often enough anymore). I know it's safe to say Sean wouldn't have his Ruf-modified Turbo if it weren't for that day he drove my modded Turbo. I'd bet anything the B7 will be a much sportier sedan, powerwise & otherwise, than the S8. Great cars either way and just a matter of taste ...

I see you're in Philly so piece of cake to get that drive ...

Benjamin Choi is infamous around these partsBenjamin Choi is infamous around these parts
I'm a BMW fan over Audi, but in this case the S8. It's much more rare and special as compared to the Alpina.

Felix55,there is'nt much price difference between, the Alpina B7 goes for $115,000,however the S8 base price is about $95,000. However once you add the option like the Bang stereo and other items that come as standard on the Alpina. The S8 its cost about the same or even a more few grand if you add stuff. So they are just about the same price.

Performance wise, think of the Alpina B7 as a slightly larger BMW M5 and the Audi S8 as a larger much nicer S6. I was looking at getting one of the two, even looked at the Quattroporte and the BMW M5,but went with the Mercedes CLS55,because it had both attributes of the Quattoporte and M-Benz. I would recommend a test driving the cars if you can or similar models to give you an idea of which car you would like better.

Stan....as mentioned by Jim, I'd be delighted to offer you a ride in the B7. Despite the concerns about the interior styling I can assure you that the ride experience adequately compensates for any interior shortcoming.

S8 hands down. I drove the A8L W12 at work and its just absurd how nice the Audi interior/craftsmanship is.

Looking over on the Audi S8 forums, they seem to all list problems that they have with the car, while on the S4 or S6 forums, they ask about modifications and what they love. I guess as long as it is in warranty, it'll be ok, but i'd be careful in that respect.
