Thinking about getting an '08 M3...how much are people getting off MSRP?

I'm looking at a white/black coupe pretty much bare at $61k MSRP. Anything special coming with the 09s or should I try and haggle this thing down?

How do you like your S5? How does it compare to the M3?

It's a form vs function decision between the 2. The s5 is gorgeous, but it is not nimble. The m3 lacks the refinement of the finish and the visual design, but it makes up for it in the responsivness. I get comments literally everywhere I go about the audi, people of all walks of life are taken by it's appearance. But if you wanna just let it out and have some fun it's dissapointing.

That's remarkably similar to the way I feel about the S4, and I really didn't notice how sloppy the handling was (even w/ the COs) until I got the C4S. If the S5 isn't a major step up I don't know if I can tolerate it, despite the gorgeous exterior/interior (I still think even my dated B7 S4 looks better than the majority of what's on the road and far superior to any BMW).

Ugh, not an easy decision to make. Test drove the C63, it's a beast but the RWD makes the winter reliability too poor for me to replace the S4 with it. Same w/ the M3, but the ride was surprisingly soft as well c/w the C63, though the handling was great and the power was nice but subtle, nothing as in your face as the C63's torquey beast.

I was pondering just adding an M3 or C63 to the stable but I really don't need 3 cars, especially with so much overlap in function. Maybe I should just wait and see if the RS5 is offered in the US?

You are replacing the S4 and have a C4s....this is a no brainer...

2006 M5 for sale, 20K mi, one owner, Boston

I can't see an m3 and a C4S in the same stable.

The rear wheel drive on the C63 and M3 shouldn't set you off for winter, nor should any other RWD car - it's all about tires, get a good set of snow tires and problem sloved - i dealt with 4 chicago winters in my e46 M3 with a set of Pilot Sport PS2's... never once used snow tires... it wasn't easy at times nor would i recommend it, but i dealt with it

to the topic, it's amazing how many M3's are available, i drove through the BMW lot the other day and saw at least 5-10 brand new M3's on the lot... couldn't believe it - never once saw that with e46 - must be easy to get, partially due to the price im sure...

fobunited is on a distinguished road
There are a couple of changes in the '09, most notably a completely revamped iDrive system as well as the DCT.

Modified Luxury and Exotics magazine did a big review of the S5 this month.

The highlights: It looks awesome, but it is definitely NOT a sports car. It is a sedate luxury car. They also called it 'schizophrenic'. The steering feels numb and distant, and the car does not like rapid steering input.

In the end, "they were left wanting more". They wanted more acceleration, more snap to the steering response, and more front grip. They said they would keep their eyes out for version 2.0.

Pick up sept/oct issue (white supercharged 560 Audi R8 on cover) to read the whole review.

That said....the S5 and the M3 are 2 different cars.

I do think the S5 looks hot.....but I would rather drive the M3.

Every word of that is spot on and is why I am considering a new car.

Well, M5 is an option but I don't really need the space and I never liked the looks.

I went to Irvine BMW yesterday in search of a new car. I was offered 4,000 off any manual tranny M3, and no discounts offered for the new semi automatic transmission that the M3 offers now.
